What is the latest with Mike Miller?

Just because someone is a great shooter doesn't mean they can help teach other players to become better shooters. Maybe he can, but until he does it's a pretty giant leap to make.

With 17 players under contract at this time, at least 2 cuts have to happen before opening night. It comes down to:
- Mike Miller ($3.3M guaranteed contract, 35 years old)
- Phil Pressey (non-guaranteed contract)
- Tim Frazier (non-guaranteed contract)
- Luis Montero (partially-guaranteed contract, $100K)
- Cliff Alexander (partially-guaranteed contract, $100K)

One cut will be Phil Pressey or Tim Frazier. I can't see the Blazers keeping both. Training camp will determine who's staying.

That means that the other cut has to come from Miller, Montero, or Alexander. With the current push towards developing talent over wins this season, I find it hard to believe that the Blazers would let Alexander or Montero go and keep Miller just because he has a guaranteed contract. Also, I can't see the Blazers wanting to keep Miller because he'll bring value and a few extra wins. He's definitely not part of the future core. Since the Blazers are well under the minimum team salary, eating his $3.3M contract shouldn't be an issue.

I'm guessing Miller is still around only because the Blazers are looking at trying to obtain an asset for him in a trade (perhaps a 2nd rounder), or to continue to work with him on a reasonable buy-out.

Plus, tiaras.

Frazier and Miller will be the ones who are cut, IMO.

The Blazers are waiting for the best deal to come along for them...they are letting the line sit in the water for awhile. If there is no deal by the end of training camp then we will either decide to waive him, to make room for one of the unguaranteed contracts, which I don't see happening. It is more likely the Blazers will hold on to him until we deal him. I am not sure how keen Miller will be/is about taking a role with the Blazers...he'd rather force a buyout.

Or Frazier and Alexander..Pressy will give Frazier a run for his money in training camp

Pressey may give Frazier a run for his money, but I think in the end Frazier is the better player...Pressey has a hard worth ethic, but his play has just not been there, and while Frazier hasn't been amzing he's shown promise, and seems to have the better upside. Either way Alexander will not be here come the start of the season, as his spot will go to Baby Batum (Montero)

And Miller. Don't forget we'll cut Miller.

There is a good chance if we don't trade him we will buy him out, but we may opt to keep him till we trade him. I hope the end of training camp is as far as we go though. I don't want someone here who doesn't want to be here.

And I don't want someone here who wears a freaking tiara.

Miller, Kaman, Henderson and (maybe) Frazier are the only players I'd like to see go elsewhere. Kinda hoping a contending team is interested in filling out their bench with the first 3.

WTF was that??

I wouldn't. I would have been PISSED. Best rebounder to ever play the game, but I've hated him since his rookie year.

Naw naw naw..Wook my man..Rodman was brilliant in inventing his persona. That and his hustle made him a lot of bucks. It was only after he started believing his shtick and delved into his toxic lifestyle that I lost every ounce of respect for the guy.

I hated him early because he was a Piston. Back then, my Piston hatred (probably inherited from my father) was almost as strong as my L*ker hatred is now.

I knew he was a knucklehead right out of college, but I had no idea the depths of knuckleheadism to which he'd sink...

Pressey may give Frazier a run for his money, but I think in the end Frazier is the better player.

Pressey grew up in a millionaire family, his NBA dad. Frazier tries harder.

I feel sorry for Frazier, so that settles it. We keep Frazier over Pressey.

Come on bucks take Miller off our hands and give us antetokounmpo

Huh? Did you quote me from another thread?

Yeah..that was a miss queue. I started to share something with you, but had to log off for a few. I had no idea that this system would save it until it posted. Fear not..I am bound to pester you soon, hehe.

It would be hard to keep Miller on the bench considering he's our best SF, and our only consistent 3pt shooter after Leonard on the roster currently.
Miller of 2+ years ago could be our best SF, but look at his numbers from last year.

I just want to say that 51 posts in a thread about Mike Miller... in early September... says something about us. I'm not sure it's good.

I like Miller, he's a good all-around talent with high basketball IQ, can pass or shoot very well for his position, unselfish, a team player, experienced. I think his defense could be his weakness but he could still be useful even though he's getting older because his game was never based on athleticism. I hope we give him a decent chance and wouldn't be surprised if he turns out to be a useful player for us.

He'll be 36 in February.

"Im mike miller and I get respect, your cash and your jewelry is what I expect."

He'll be useful as a vet mentor and shooting instructor. I don't expect to see him as part of a 9 or 10 man rotation.

Of our Twin White Ivory Towers at SF, Miller will help Connie grow up and learn to crack a smile. They each have the same time remaining in their NBA careers.
