Plus, tiaras.Just because someone is a great shooter doesn't mean they can help teach other players to become better shooters. Maybe he can, but until he does it's a pretty giant leap to make.
Frazier and Miller will be the ones who are cut, IMO.With 17 players under contract at this time, at least 2 cuts have to happen before opening night. It comes down to:
- Mike Miller ($3.3M guaranteed contract, 35 years old)
- Phil Pressey (non-guaranteed contract)
- Tim Frazier (non-guaranteed contract)
- Luis Montero (partially-guaranteed contract, $100K)
- Cliff Alexander (partially-guaranteed contract, $100K)
One cut will be Phil Pressey or Tim Frazier. I can't see the Blazers keeping both. Training camp will determine who's staying.
That means that the other cut has to come from Miller, Montero, or Alexander. With the current push towards developing talent over wins this season, I find it hard to believe that the Blazers would let Alexander or Montero go and keep Miller just because he has a guaranteed contract. Also, I can't see the Blazers wanting to keep Miller because he'll bring value and a few extra wins. He's definitely not part of the future core. Since the Blazers are well under the minimum team salary, eating his $3.3M contract shouldn't be an issue.
I'm guessing Miller is still around only because the Blazers are looking at trying to obtain an asset for him in a trade (perhaps a 2nd rounder), or to continue to work with him on a reasonable buy-out.

Or Frazier and Alexander..Pressy will give Frazier a run for his money in training campActually we'll cut Pressey and Alexander

And Miller. Don't forget we'll cut Miller.Actually we'll cut Pressey and Alexander

And I don't want someone here who wears a freaking tiara. There is a good chance if we don't trade him we will buy him out, but we may opt to keep him till we trade him. I hope the end of training camp is as far as we go though. I don't want someone here who doesn't want to be here.
Back in the day, Dennis Rodman could've worn one and we'd have jumped at the chance to sign himAnd I don't want someone here who wears a freaking tiara.
I wouldn't. I would have been PISSED. Best rebounder to ever play the game, but I've hated him since his rookie year.Back in the day, Dennis Rodman could've worn one and we'd have jumped at the chance to sign him
WTF was that??

I hated him early because he was a Piston. Back then, my Piston hatred (probably inherited from my father) was almost as strong as my L*ker hatred is now.Naw naw naw..Wook my man..Rodman was brilliant in inventing his persona. That and his hustle made him a lot of bucks. It was only after he started believing his shtick and delved into his toxic lifestyle that I lost every ounce of respect for the guy.
Pressey may give Frazier a run for his money, but I think in the end Frazier is the better player.

Huh? Did you quote me from another thread?
Miller of 2+ years ago could be our best SF, but look at his numbers from last year.It would be hard to keep Miller on the bench considering he's our best SF, and our only consistent 3pt shooter after Leonard on the roster currently.
and so we both add another post...where is the Alexander, Harkless, Montero, stuff?I just want to say that 51 posts in a thread about Mike Miller... in early September... says something about us. I'm not sure it's good.
I like Miller, he's a good all-around talent with high basketball IQ, can pass or shoot very well for his position, unselfish, a team player, experienced. I think his defense could be his weakness but he could still be useful even though he's getting older because his game was never based on athleticism. I hope we give him a decent chance and wouldn't be surprised if he turns out to be a useful player for us.

He'll look good in a suitHe'll be 36 in February.
