He claims that he said to Paul Allen in his job interview that he'd draft Lillard and Leonard, so no doubt he'd claim them as his. But I don't know what players for the Clippers he was responsible for. I want to say Bledsoe, which worked out fine. Bledsoe and Leonard fit the same mold: athletic and raw: all potential. Lillard, of course, doesn't fit that mold. But I wonder how much he is influenced by advanced stats, and if so, which ones. If it's true that Caldwell-Pope is his choice (and, while it's too soon to tell, I seem to remember most people being sure that the Blazers would take Lillard well before the draft) then that sounds like a Bledsoe/Leonard pick rather than a Lillard pick. Whereas I doubt there is an advanced stat (except maybe some kind of adjusted +/-) that measures the effect of a dominant defender like Dieng.
