What really happened to Cam Reddish

This is a very interesting video if you have not seen it. The Cam part is towards the middle. Sounds like a high-ceiling kid. Dame could be the guy who can help him.

I guess there is some hope for him. Sounds as if injuries have been part of his problem. And after being traded twice, maybe he understands some things... Maybe he will be ready to listen to Billups.

Dame has a long and storied history of taking young guys under his wing and elevating them to an all-star and even all-NBA level.

Oh, wait. No he doesn't.

He's a fantastic player but there's no evidence he makes young guys better.

I wasn't talking about Dame taking him under his wing and improving his skill level. I was talking about Dame taking him under his wing and showing
him what it takes to be a professional and work on his craft.

He asked to be traded from Atlanta because he was buried on the depth chart at the time. That was not a mature decision for a young player at the time to make. Bad advice by those in his ear is my guess. Much like Little he has had a lot of injuries that have kept him in and out of the lineup. So much like everyone else on this board, I do not have a clue about his skill level. Maybe he is a lost cause or maybe he just needs a fresh start. Either way, having Dame in his ear and watching how he goes about his profession can't hurt.

Interesting that at the end of the video, the Knicks were seeking a protected 1st round pick for Reddish. In the end, they send a protected 1st with him in the trade for Hart. To that end, I thought Cronin did quite well with the Hart move. Apparently there have been some questions about his work ethic, so it will be interesting to see how he attacks this new opportunity. Billups is certainly of a different mold than 'Sarge' or Thibs. But this is likely his last chance.

Hope he makes the most of it.

The Cliff Alexander of small forwards

Beastly HS player, NBA dud.

I fully understand that a lot of bad players can have a few good shooting nights. Nonetheless here are a couple of those from Cam. His stroke looks good to me

That Duke trio was interesting to say the least, being the modern day Fab 5. They even had a fourth frosh PG who no one can remember... Zion and his all-world strength and skill, but so many questions about durability. Barret who I absolutely hated as a prospect. Good measurables but nothing else promising. And Reddish who showed flashes of being a hybrid Cedric Ceballos-Robert Horry type, a do-it-all guy who never quite seemed to do it consistently.

I liked Cam's potential back then, but I can't say I'm terribly surprised how his career has gone. I'm still moderately hopeful that his Atlanta chapter was like Rasheed in Washington, being buried behind other guys like Juwan Howard (hey, another Fab 5 tie-in!), but the disastrous NY stopover makes me less confident about that. Even if you buy the Thibs' doghouse explanation, Cam should have had the career-revitalization sense of urgency to play better when he was off the leash.

Let's hope he can give you like 12 and 4 or something.

I went to double-check who his agent is. It sounded like a Klutch Sports scenario. (it is)

1. Neither of them does much to impress in that video
2. That is some shitty-ass camerawork
3. Nas should grow the hair back
I've been in disagreement with you recently, so just thought I would chime in to say, "you nailed it here."

Trouble is, we now have roughly a bazillion forwards, so Reddish is likely to face the same problem as you cited in Atlanta.

I would trust the process if it was anyone else but Cronin and Jody running things and i mean hell makes me almost want NeO back at this point that is how bad it's gotten.

CJ, Ant, Trent, Layman all say hello. Maybe if Neil Olshey hadn't wasted 7 first round picks in 6 years, there would be a longer list of players to develop. And a list that wasn't filled with role players.

here I was thinking that is was coaching, system, scheme, and opportunity that developed players. But now apparently, while leading the team in scoring, and running the offense, and being the primary focus of defenses, game after game after game, and carrying the team into the playoffs for 8 years, Dame was neglecting his duty of developing the talent of young players he didn't evaluate as prospects, didn't draft, and didn't coach. Lazy

I think the minutes are there if he is any good. Especially if you consider Sharpe as part of a 3 guard rotation. That pretty much leaves Cam and Little at SF.
Yes Winslow can play there too.

Where's Thybulle? Where are Watford and Walker?
