What would it take for Neil to completely blow up the team?

Why in God's name would we want Whiteside back? We've been mediocre since he got here, while the Heat have been hugely improved. Coincidence?

So Meyers is better than Whiteside?

The Heat had a ton of roster changes, and other good seasons in recent years with Whiteside.

I dont think Whitside is an above average starting center.

But I do think he's a useful role player. He would be great to lead the bench. If the market demands $20million for him or he is set on a guarantee as a starter let him walk. If he wants to be a rotational player paid a fair wage keep him.

Dwight Jaynes said before the game he doesn't think Whiteside will be back next season. He thinks he'll command too much money.

Olshey, Stotts, CJ, and Dame are all tied together. They all got extensions together. They all have a built in excuse this season. Dame has been the only one not actually believing that excuse.

But this roster isn't going anywhere. The easiest thing to change is the coach but the organization just made a statement that $2 million is more important than fielding the best possible team so why would they fire Stotts while owing him money still? Olshey and CJ are on the books longer so they're not going anywhere either.

Now they're stuck having to keep Whiteside too, which will be a disaster.

I get that a lot of people don't like Stotts nor CJ. But
Common you can't tell me CJ & Stotts are happy the way this season has turned out. Can't tell me they haven't been trying to fight to stay in the playoff race.
NO might have to look at it a different way to 'sell tickets' and make it seem like he's doing his job... But common.
Even Meyers Leonard cared.

Who told you that?

Neil has been great at the draft and bargin bin trade/free agent pickups. I dont trust him to make a good blockbuster trade or big free agent signing. Yes internal improvement will be the key.

he's been great in the bargain bin and at dumpster diving for sure. He was at the head of the line when another team simply wanted to dump a player, for one reason or the other. That's how he got Lopez, Maynor, Harkless, Napier, and Nurkic (maybe a little more luck than targeting with Nurk). His only bust in that market was TRob, and that was mainly because he essentially traded 4 second round picks for him

I think he's been good at drafting, not great, but in a way, what elevates his drafting evaluation seems connected to that bargain bin mentality. That being he's been really good at finding perimeter talent in the 2nd round. His 1st round record is a lot more debatable and may only be average, depending on what happens with Zach, Simons, and Little. But finding Barton, Crabbe, Layman, and Trent in the 2nd round is a damn good performance. That makes it a little ironic that he's so willing to spend 2nd round picks for so little return in trades

So Meyers is better than Whiteside?

Let's call it addition by subtraction. In the modern game outside shooting is arguably much more important than it used to be for a center. Plus I think Whiteside is at least as bad as Meyers at defending anywhere other than at the hoop.

Fair point.

I am pretty much 100% certain Whiteside will never see himself as a role player.

Then let him go to a team offering such.

When he only gets MLE offers it will humble him, he can come back to the Blazers on a reasonable deal or be out of the league.

Who told you that?

I mean I could be just as rude to you here as you just were to me and ask"who told you they don't care"?
But I won't..... Instead I'll do this.

The post game and on the court reaction after the Utah game shows they want the playoffs.
They were willing to risk money to criticize officials.
A player or coach who doesn't care doesn't do that.

It's obvious Meyers Leonard cared. The fact that booing effected him like it did shows that. The man continued to work on his craft and is a solid role player in the NBA now.
Has flaws but so does every NBA role player. That's why they're not LBJ.

Trying to be nice instead of posting like I normally do and give what I get.
We'll see where it gets me

lmao! Cause our struggles are all due to trading for Whiteside and not any injuries and Miami has been good because of Leonard and not the acquisition of Butler and their rookies playing well above their head?

Now that's some funny stuff. Someone needs to call hobbs and get him his bucket of popcorn ready.

I think if the team continues on its current path, Neil would consider firing Stotts. That is about as close to blowing it up as it gets for me.

I am always ready, baby! :bwpopcorn::biglaugh:

In answer to the thread title's question: if it's money, I think we can start a GoFundMe, and I'd certainly contribute.

That would be foolish on his part, given that Stotts is the only guy who can squeeze wins out of the crappy roster he's built.

I think people are blowing the CJ/Damian friendship out of proportion. Are they friends? Sure. I also think there is nothing the Blazers could offer for Ben Simmons, except Lillard.

I think if we don't make the playoffs this season Stotts is definitely gone. There where reports last summer that the Blazers considered firing him.

Um, Stotts got an extension last summer. If you're talking about the summer prior to that one it was erased by the WCF trip last year.

There is zero chance that Stotts gets fired this summer.

Torey real question.
When was the last time I tried to engage with you in a conversation/discussion.
About anything? Yeah I don't remember, even tried to search my post history a bit. Maybe it was a game thread?
I mean when that one poster who has since apologize was having a go at me. You responded with 'smh' and I told you to speak up.
Saw a mod edited that post but I never saw anything other than 'smh'. Prolly a good thing.

Anyway
I really don't want to discuss things with you ever again. I did attempt to with your disdainful post. But that wasn't acceptable for you as I got the same bs.
I have zero interest in interacting with anyone who was part of those teams anymore. That includes you.

As far as I remember my last discussion with you was a game thread. I was pretty stand off-ish.
It was childish but as I said. I don't want to talk with any of you anymore. Which is what I should've said in that game thread. Instead of force people to read between the lines.
Actually I think I quoted eric in that game thread. Then you interjected your one word responses cause it's a public forum. Anyone can respond.
But again, that was a bit ago and I can't find the posts via my post history.

tl;dr Leave me alone.
