Frank Gable, who was wrongfully convicted and imprisoned for murdering Oregon Corrections Director Michael Francke, has filed suit in federal court seeking damages against 24 law enforcement officials he claims conspired to frame him for the crime with no evidence.
 
I hate this country. Full of useless fucking hypocrites, from the president right down to it's citizens.

On my way out of the grocery store Monday morning, An American walks up to me. Begging for a few bucks to buy a box of cereal. I wanted to break down, as I told them I couldn't.

Imagine a country with everything, yet it's own citizens can't get help from their own government to keep them from living on the streets, starving.

We are all collectively, a useless pack of crap, if we can't get our government... to care about Americans.

Oregon has an excellent food bank program. The Oregon Food Bank collects and then sends food to local community food banks throughout the state. There is food available at them. No questions asked, no judgment.

I have donated 1000s hours of time and money over the years to the OFB. Sad to say, many of the people asking for money at grocery stores are doing it to support drug habits. You did the right thing in saying no. Many of the local food banks offer other services or can point people to other services to help them.

I know you passionately care about things like this and I strongly suggest you volunteer at a local food bank from time to time. They could use your help.

There is help everywhere if one seeks it out with a sound mind. Unfortunately, most beggars like you describe are drug addicts and aren't actually looking for food. They are usually looking for anything of value they can flip into something to get drugs, to echo sly.

Hatred begets hatred. Break the chain of hatred.

I didn't read most of the above posts. Just playing by the rules. If people don't have to see my evidence, I don't need to see theirs...

Tina Kotek is giving away billion dollar tax breaks to corporations like Amazon, so they will do business in Oregon. Yet can't shuffle a billion dollars towards the homeless problem. Or Oregon's mental health care system, that our own Oregon government screwed over decades ago. And have yet to fix. For every single dollar they give in tax breaks to corporations. They should have to give an equal amount to Oregonians, as well. It's only fair.

Our government literally rigged the system by giving our oligarchy tax breaks under Reagan. Then did so again under G.W. Bush, and again under Trump. Democrats haven't gotten any of that back for America. Because they helped to rig the game too. (this should literally be a mic drop moment to both sides)

If our government taxed the rich the way they were taxed, before all these tax breaks. Nobody here would have to donate time or money to any cause, because every year America would be awash in billions more in taxes for America to use.

We live in a climate emergency, we see record temps every year. Global warming is a national security threat to every nation on this planet. Yet, big oil blocks all progress to weening the planet off of their product. So we all need to get ready for Oregon to feel no different from California in the next decade or so. Because, rather than listen to science, both the democrats and republicans listen to money.

Americans are dumb, because we have lowered our standards. It is fine for them to lower kids passing grades in public schools so your kids/grand kids can pass their classes. People drink out of plastic bottles because supposedly our water is so bad for you, that it is the only way to go. Instead of getting our government to clean up our drinking water, pipelines. Humans would rather drink water from plastic bottles filled with microplastics. Because... it's healthier for you. Oh, and don't get me started on the microplastics we all breathe in every day either. America has money for every single natural disaster that comes along. Every single corporate bail out. Yet has little money for our schools/infrastructure, homeless problem, etc. . So it is clear that neither party believes in science. Nor cares about America. Or we wouldn't be able to see everything I just listed, and everything I didn't feel like taking the time to waste showing people. America doesn't have to be a paradise. But it clearly shouldn't be anywhere near what we all see today.

I could go on and on, but the truth never brings on "mic drop" moments. There are no mic drops when everyone looks away from the truth about their own party.

Edit: I will post an update eventually. I had a major setback months ago. Haven't fully recovered.

Boeing and Raytheon need our charity much more than someone begging for cereal. Don’t forget, democracy is always at stake. If we don’t use tax money to involve ourselves in proxy wars around the globe than we will all be begging for cereal and don’t you fucking forget it. If we allow people like Putin to take all the cereal away from Ukraine, next he will take all the cereal from Poland, then Europe, then the world.

The world has been a lot more peaceful since world war II. That is thanks in large part to the US leveraging its influence using our tax dollars.

What we need to do is make sure that we have better systems. Which are less corruptible.

Not try to eliminate government and taxes in an effort to become more like Somalia.

True, but when people are arguing that taxes are wrong, it's helpful to show a comparison between a country that pays no taxes and a country who pays taxes in order to best serve it's population.

Finland is regularly the happiest and most well-educated country in the world. I would prefer policies that put Oregon (and the rest of the country) on that path.
