Usually when I go to Portland, even when staying at my parents house, I'd do one night in a hotel downtown, just to be closer to everything, explore, dine, drink, etc.

Doubtful I'll do anything like that this winter.

Nice to know some people have nice safe zones with businesses to support. I dont recall anyone saying not to support small business.
As z matter of fact i remember some people concerned about the small businesses over the last two years that received major downplay from many here…


Safe zones sure are nice.

Lords had safe zones from the peasants….

Also in case you are at all interested ( suspect you are based on your response) my post was more about areas of town. Not about supporting businesses. Thats great.
But some people post pics of parks
And places aNd having a good time as if all is well, while the other half of the city has serious issues.
And those who have focused on those issues have been downplayed as it not being a real issue by those same people.

Soooo, sorry if my post triggered you, but as long as some people post trying to portray a peaceful city, im gonna continue to dust up what others are sweeping under the rug.

Not everyone has the the ability to live in nice neighborhoods with nice, crime free, parks.

And thats the reality of it. No matter what some people want to push as a narrative. ;)

Yes, I'm triggered. Keep going with that. I'm going to walk the beach with my woman and my dog while the sun sets.

But who cares if someone enjoys the area of the city they live in. You're the one with the multiple posts about what a terrible place Portland is. I'll agree with you, Portland sucks. Worse place ever.

Yeah lets go with it since you first brought up anyone being triggered. Lol.
The triggered are the ones who couldnt handle this thread from the outset, having any negative portrayals of the city and made it a point to try to portray portland as being beautiful.

I made one post about my family and I enjoying downtown Portland and you respond with 7 posts about Portland sucking. I'm sure you can understand how I might think you could be triggered. If you're not, oh well.

Anyway, enjoy your time at the beach! The drive in fall time is gorgeous.

Wanted to recommend a place if you aren’t too scared to come into NE Portland. You know with how dangerous it is and all. Food cart on MLK and Lombard.
Union Burger PDX! Fantastic food. Minority owned, guys from the neighborhood doing good.

That’s why I don’t understand how you question me or where I hang or go to. I’m FROM inner city NE Portland, born and raised. Bro, you grew up in some Brady Bunch neighborhood halfway to the beach son.

Looking forward to checking out those spots!

I'm from the south side of Chicago. I laugh thinking about how bad or rough an area has gotten here. Since I've moved here 20 years ago, it's gotten better imo

It was really bad here mid 80s-mid90s. Gangs all moved up from LA, but they did a great job getting that under control.
Things are bad right now though. Still my city though. Still going to live. Get out and support the local businesses and live life. I’m glad they made this thread, so I can share our great city with others. I don’t think I have the time to google bad things happening where you guys all live. I don’t know why people would take time out of their busy schedule to share bad things about places, and actually seem to enjoy it.
Maybe we should start a Gresham or Clackamas or ‘Couv thread? I can only hope you all enjoy where you live half as much as we do where we live.

We had a delicious dinner at a Portland restaurant last night.

Where in Carlsbad? We live on the edge of Carlsbad - in the unincorporated area between Carlsbad and San Marcos.

If they are closer to Carlsbad Village, I am happy for them - The old smoke stack from the old power unit was taken down- quality of life and property values have gone up in that area a lot.

This is a result of having a shitty police force. Get rid of the corrupt police and pay more for better police.

Or shut down the Portland Police altogether and have Multnomah County Police handle it.

Give them free housing in Portland so they are actually part of the community.

But good police are not going to be interested in working for a corrupt police force.

The police have not been defunded. They have not been dismantled.

The ones who have gone have chosen to leave.
