This is a result of having a shitty police force. Get rid of the corrupt police and pay more for better police.

Or shut down the Portland Police altogether and have Multnomah County Police handle it.

Give them free housing in Portland so they are actually part of the community.

But good police are not going to be interested in working for a corrupt police force.
I've been saying this for fifty years. Do you think anyone in power will ever listen?

This is whats actually going on. Some people can dilute it. Sweep it under the rug, deny it or whatever, but their heads would simply be buried in the sand.

Another sidestep. The only thing you have proven is your posts are insufferable.

prove there are the same amount of cops on the road as two years ago.
Prove that there aren't more speeders on the road.
Prove that it isnt a direct causation.

Homicides up what was it, 30% in ny i think you posts and tou think that proves portland is no different woth 800% homicide increase?

the numbers show you wrong. Your numbers show you aRe wrong.
Now enjoy ignore. Had enough of your online antics.
You didn't address one thing i said i have witnessed and my witnessing is a fact you have yet to disprove. but you just keep talking your shot like you know everything. Its comical.

Again. Some of us live in the real world and use our own eyes for verification. Not some internet link.
Numbers can be skewed to fit a narrative and you love playing that game.

Leave the basement.
leave your internet fake news.
Get out and see whats going on.

damn internet know it all hermits with no real life experience…

some people just know how to use common sense and not let some liberal hack twist shit on them with their “ideals”.

Great job trying to educate someone with your continual bs. Lol.
Again, murders went up 30% nation wide in 2020. Not just NY. Not just Portland. The whole country. It was a tough year for police all over the country.

Call it BS if you want, but I'll just stick to the facts. If you want to ignore the facts and live in a fantasy world you have every right to do so.

Baby boomers are retiring everywhere. There are shortages of employees everywhere. There will be more records broken as more boomers retire. In every field.

This is supported because the same thing is happening nationwide. Which is why you see other states advertising to hire police from Oregon. If there were no openings our police wouldn't have anywhere else to go.

Nobody is attacking firefighters. So why are their retirement numbers spiking as well, as your post clearly shows? Must be something else going on...

Some 115 officers have left the force since July 1 of last year — the highest in at least 15 years

Interesting. So since the rate was higher 15 years ago we should be able to look back 15 years and find the same spikes in crime, right?

Nope. Crime rates were still dropping fast 15 years ago.

I guess there might be some other factors as well...

@Phatguysrule Portland Police to rollout new unit to address gun violence issue

This comes just months after the city disbanded the Gun Violence Reduction Team (GVRT). Since the city disbanded the GVRT, shootings skyrocketed, but city and community leaders do not agree on the reason.

Portland’s police chief has told KATU News that the city’s decision to disband the GVRT made the surge in violence worse than it would have been if the team were still in place. The unit had officers who focused on patrol, others who focused on investigating shootings, and another group that worked with community groups to target people involved in gun violence.

Thanks!
Still a bit confusing, because shootings skyrocketed over "the last year" , but the unit was disbanded only "months ago".

So it sounds like maybe the unit was not effective or something so they are in the process of enacting a new or retooled unit?

This seems like they are making efforts to solve the problem.

Going to Moda last night was shocking. We parked a few streets away, like always. We couldnt even walk down the sidewalks like we always have. They were full of tents and BBQs, mattresses, weed, etc. Made me mad. I was with two of my kids, we walked into Moda, told wife, I will go get car after game, you guys wait here for me. Fucking pathetic the city has been taken over by a small % of people. I honestly am starting to care less and less about "oh no what do we do" just do something, get them out. Sorry but .01% of the population doesnt get to ruin a city for everyone else - the ones who pay taxes to boot

been saying this for a year and have been insulted for it for a year. I'm callous. Heartless.

Disgusting. Despicable.
I dont want to actually solve the problem. I AM part of the problem….

No one here will ever backstep and say whoa. Maybe OB had some points.
Never.
And watch this post will trigger some people into yet another defensive stance while providing new insults.

Instead of saying, yeah.. its gotten really bad out there….

Ya, there were some sketchy tents over where the employees park. At least they had security there, but that shit definitely needs to be scooped up. It was REALLY bad last season!

Maybe fans should reach out to the team and let them know they don’t feel safe walking to the arena?

Where in Carlsbad? We live on the edge of Carlsbad - in the unincorporated area between Carlsbad and San Marcos.

If they are closer to Carlsbad Village, I am happy for them - The old smoke stack from the old power unit was taken down- quality of life and property values have gone up in that area a lot.
I'm not familiar enough with Carlsbad to know the difference but they live not far from San Marcos....my daughter grew up in San Marcos...their address is Carlsbad..that's as far as I know....I stayed at a resort near the windmill, tulip fields when I visited last

OK, sounds like they are far away from the decommissioned stack - and sort of "neighbors" of ours.

Unless it's the .01% of Americans who supposedly died from COVID-19.
