No oversight, no repercussions, lawlessness too acceptedWhy?
Because police are refusing to do their jobs. I posted about this in another post. Crime and violent crime are way up, prosecution rates are average to above average (the trouble with prosecuting higher rates is mostly lack of public defenders), yet arrests are way down. Why?
Isn't the mayor the head of police? Seems that there needs to be anew system with regard to managing not only a city but law enforcement.Because police are refusing to do their jobs. The only logical cause is police giving a big F-You to the communities who pay them.
Portland Police and their union just need to be gotten rid of. It's beyond repair.Isn't the mayor the head of police? Seems that there needs to be anew system with regard to managing not only a city but law enforcement.

How are people supposed to commute around Portland when the I-5 and I-205 tolls arrive?
One of ODOT's stated purposes for tolling is to relieve congestion and get commuters traveling at different times or by different means, namely public transit.
I don't think anybody voted for itI can't believe people voted for this...
Oh that's rightI don't think anybody voted for it
(Regressive) Taxes should be voted onI like toll roads. Let's me skip traffic for 5 dolla

Not sure what this means.Conformity
Id rather have the freedom to travel how I want and the option to pay a toll, Im not big on herding the mass to take mass transit, not against mass transit as such, just forcing people to take it and not offer options. Not sure what this means.
Ive traveled most states and Im not proud that Oregon has some of the worst roads of any State Ive been. Not sure what this means.

Its always been this way.
If they're going to limit or cut the income tax how would a sales tax help?Id rather have the freedom to travel how I want and the option to pay a toll, Im not big on herding the mass to take mass transit, not against mass transit as such, just forcing people to take it and not offer options.
Don't like the idea that toll is the answer, personally I think a sales tax would go along way in this State if they would limit or cut all together State Income tax.
Really?? In my travels I have always been grateful to be back on Oregon roads. There might be (many?) better roads in states west of the Mississippi River but east of the Mississippi the roads suck a major hoagie. I cannot believe the trucking industry puts up with it. In Ohio I finally started taking secondary roads because the interstate was beating the shit out of my car. In Pennsylvania we got slowed to a crawl because of "road work" at the state border............a crew of guys with wheelbarrows full of asphalt, filling small chuckholes by hand, while the car swallowing chuckholes got ignored. What's probably closer to the truth is every state's roads suck because the politicians are either grifting or they have vanity projects they'd rather fund. Probably a little bit of both.......Ive traveled most states and Im not proud that Oregon has some of the worst roads of any State Ive been.

Is there going to be a voter approval? Hope so.If they're going to limit or cut the income tax how would a sales tax help?
How does requiring voter approval before tolling existing roads herd anybody to transit?
Maybe Ive missed some terrible road in the mid west States. I used to drive from Milwaukee, Chicago, Indy, Dayton down to Louisville and was impressed with the freeways, not so much traffic in certain areas but the conditions. Also, I think our neighbors to the north have very nice Interstate freeways. I haven't done much long distant traveling of late things could have changed big time.Really?? If it's popular enough it'll be approved. But I seriously doubt it would be.Is there going to be a voter approval? Hope so.
With a sales tax instead of State Income tax seems you could generate revenue from out of state visitors. Im not in fav or of a Federal GST as Canada does.
