Oregon’s governor announces phased withdrawal of federal officers from Portland

https://www.oregonlive.com/crime/20...RBLxxfIc7L-msOQgd5lBYHwoV1ropLdAA-yS0IzC9L11I

I'm really suspicious of this

I would not be surprised if, after one incident of damage (and there is sure to be), trump escalates the troop presence and blames it on a Democratic governor

basically, I wonder if Kate Brown is getting sandbagged by the white house. And remember, the LE that is supposed to 'take over' for the feds is the Oregon State Police, and it was just a couple of months ago there was the incident with the 4 state troopers. I suspect this is all resting on really shaky ground....but I'm cynical

I'd prefer the use of State Police protecting the federal courthouse over federal agents, but I'm dubious that there are enough troopers to do that and cover the rest of the policing needs for the state. As of 2019, there were a grand total of 380 state troopers. That's a pretty slim roster to be allocating, say 40-50, to the courthouse detail for who knows how much longer.

The mayor and Brown should have kept the feds out by protecting the fed property initially with what they are now agreeing too.
Glad they are leaving but I still the the Mayor and Brown need to protect their own city and state.

I hope with the S troopers and ppp the trouble makers stop so it shows that Trumps Storm troopers were the magnetism.
I would expect BLM leaders go tell antifi to stand down.

Why defend the courthouse? "Losing" the courthouse can be the first step in defunding. :thinking emoji:

Well, I guess I am just thinking that some of the civil rights cases BLM is going to want to bring forward in the future to enforce the new federal laws they hope to see enacted are going to need courtrooms and judges. Just a thought.

what actual physical damage has been done to the federal courthouse (other than some graffiti)? I couldn't find any evidence of any significant damage. Mostly, it was the fence around the courthouse that got damaged. Did I miss something?

Well, they have been pretty consistent in shooting fireworks and burning stuff there, including inside the building the time they broke in through the window. Molotov cocktails have been found in the area.

Saying the “protesters” “haven’t done much damage” kind of needs a “yet” after it. The guy playing Russian roulette doesn’t do any damage until he suddenly does permanent damage. Of course, these guys aren’t pointing the gun at themselves so the analogy doesn’t work real well, but you get the idea.

So you're saying the feds and the fence helped to protect it from serious damage?

"Found"... LOL! Well, I guess at least SOMEONE believed that they just happened to 'find' a backpack with Molotov cocktails (they weren't full, either, BTW--in case you're keeping score at home) and AK-47 clips in it.

Just reporting what I read. The backpack could have been a plant. What about this one reported by KATU?

The fire inside the courthouse and the guy arrested for arson, is that fake too?

Unfortunately, at this point, black people probably end up in better shape if we just shut off the stream of routine arrests of young black men and women for things white people aren't arrested for, then having both that and the ability to bring civil rights cases.

I'm being tongue-in-cheek about getting rid of courts, but not at all tongue-in-cheek that the justice system is net balance far worse for the black community than positive.

That’s what I thought you meant. Point taken about the imbalance, but I think there’s an important distinction to be made between municipal/state courts, which have been rife with injustice towards blacks, and federal courts, which have been used to pound states into submission many times on civil rights matters. That’s why I think the rioting(not the protesting) at the courthouse is largely anti-government in general, not BLM.

Not gonna read most of this thread cause I'm not all that talkative, but while I have a lot of issues with what's going on. This kid (and I say that cause he looks pretty young, not because I'm trying to disparage his age) gets it right.

We (White people me included), need to quit thinking that it's just angry black men and women, or that they aren't trying to get the 'bad apples' from their ranks. Many of the black people I've talked to don't want riots and people's lives being taken or livelihoods taken away from them. Most of the actual bull crap happening downtown is actually being done by white people using BLM for their own purposes. White people love to tell them to get their bad apples out, but most of the bad apples in a lot of these protests are white people so and I'm not virtue signaling or whatever that crap is, but maybe white people need to do some weeding out too.

Just my thoughts, flame away.

He 100% correct in my view!

no...I'm questioning if there was ever a real threat of serious damage

Gotcha. Well serious damage is probably somewhat subjective. Isn't there footage and/or reports of people breaking into buildings and lighting them on fire? And if so, wouldn't that warrant a serious threat?

I'm not sure if the buildings lit on fire were up in Seattle or here though.

Debunked. Not even the clowns you watch on MSNBC are touching this non-story anymore. The rest of the rant you posted is either irrelevant or more unsubstantiated bullshit. I don’t give a rats ass about Georgia. Irrelevant. Russian sanctions? Irrelevant. Your opinions on “many red states” penchant for gerrymandering? Once again, irrelevant

Your opinions are not facts, neither are your debunked Russia conspiracies.
No, it was proven by Mueller with concurrance by every intelligence agency we have but you know better?
