Rumor What's going on in Portland?

Welcome to our community

Look, when I guided you towards actually looking at Google news feeds that point towards Portland unrest/rioting, I'm also sarcastically pointing out that, indeed, Portland isn't the "bastion for peace, serenity, and well being". Sorry for no green font.

When it comes to political unrest, no matter the size and/or frequency, Portland continues to lead the nation in outbursts and crime/violence. Hence, the continuous news pieces on the matter. I mean, seriously, can you name another city with such a dubious distinction, or are you purposely trying to be obtuse?

The point remains: you only trust news when it tells you want to hear or believe.

OK, then, paint another picture for me. That's my challenge to you since you're asserting I only trust what I want to hear.

The fact is, the news I read/see/hear, and the stories I'm told (yes, plenty locally, as well), tell me Portland pretty much leads the nation in this type of behavior.

And your city leads the nation in angry white people terrorist bombings.

Just drove through downtown PDX. It is shredded up (they have several streets near the waterfront torn up for work). There’s definitely more homeless here than in the past. No riots. No protests. See several folks out and about enjoying the nice weather. They look like reasonable folks that are probably going to restaurants.

I’ve bashed Portland as it’s not for me these days, but I trust my own eyes more than your lame and biased articles from Fox News.

Had breakfast of a sunny sidewalk this morning beautiful day lots of people enjoying it. Tons of new construction and tons of trash everywhere, quite the juxtapose.

Gentrification = musical chairs for poor people.

Glad you enjoyed the nice day. I had cited a Sandy Mayor. Apparently, he's outside the fray. My bad.

It doesn't seem to much matter what the reason, Portland is the magnet for this (ongoing) activity...

Reported antifa rioters smash windows and vandalize businesses in downtown Portland over Biden's immigration policies

"When these people come through, and we've lost an entire day of business which means that's impacting my team member's wages. This has been going on for nine months," said Jim Rice, who owns Fields Bar and Grill in downtown Portland. "Where are our resources? When do we get enough resources to finally go after and fix this?"

Why the city is still letting people protest and smash windows and paint graffiti is beyond me. I work in the Pearl and it's a mess. The city is a mess. As one small business owner in the Pearl told the Oregonian before the planned "protest," "When is it going to stop?"

As you guys know, I am a died-in-the-wool Dem, but something is seriously f'd up in Portland right now.

Los Angeles has over 50 blocks of this downtown...it's a global issue but the authorities aren't dealing with property crime effectively. Drove through Eugene this morning and the places they've cleared and cleaned up are trashed again already....it's a public health hazard even if it's only under overpasses and outside the Walmart parking lot

Yeah. He is. He’s very disconnected. He believes the election was stolen. He doesn’t believe in COVID and has told his residents to defy COVID restrictions.

I’m not saying that folks don’t see things going on in Portland. But he’s proven himself an unreliable source.

Well, OK. I'll defer to your local expertise. I'll give you that. That said, I'm not entirely off-base with some of my observations.

Well, you're not exactly near base with a lot of them either. ;)

That link is your evidence? Really?

It's not just Portland.
