If he isn't close to being 100%, does it make sense to risk playing him? I'm not sure it is, even though this is a B-I-G game.

I guess by "risk" I assume you mean he could injure it to the point that he would jeopardize either his availability at the start of training camp six months from now or at worst his career. If we're talking about "risk" of being out for the series or not being able to get back into basketball for a month or two while he convalesces then I don't see much harm ... assuming of course he can be effective.

I'd hate to see the kid need more surgery - and as you say, that assumes he can play effectively. If he is too injured to be effective, then I think we can all agree he needs to take the night off.
 
Okay, I'll play Mr. Cold. These next two games are critical. If we hold home court for Games 3 and 4, we're up 3-1 and likely win this series. The next series, we'd likely get Roy back. At that point Nico can be replaced. He'll have all summer to recover. I say we shoot him up and play him.
