Plus, Clyde did win a title late in his career. Perhaps Drexler not taking the preseason seriously kept him fresh enough so that late in his career he still had the game to be a main cog to a title team. :)
Or maybe playing with a stud like Alajuwon who carried the load every night was enough to give Drexler a free ride.

Nope. It's obvious to me that Drexler dogging it in the preseason throughout his career ultimately gave that Houston team the fresh Clyde it needed to win a second title. I don't think there is any way to dispute this pseudo-fact based in opinion based on quasi-observation.

And it's obvious to me that some people are idiots.

Miami lost tonight against Charlotte, making them 3-3 in the preseason. What a bunch of fuckin bums I tell ya.

Fuck. Is Brandon Roy playing badly on purpose? Just checked the box score. Practically nothing I'm 24 minutes of play? I thought he said last week that he wanted to play more in preseason so that he'd be playing his best when the season started.

And I think preseason matters. IIRC, Jordan used to play hard in preseason and they rarely lost those games. He doesn't like losing no matter when the game is played. Also, didn't our last contending team ('99-'00) go 8-0 in preseason?

Our team is a mess. Our start doesn't like the way he is used and he's playing horribly. The guy who is playing the best (Rudy) wants out. All 4 of our centers are hurt. Our new signing is hurt. What a fucking mess!

All summer, I was looking forward to Oden's return to the team by training vamp and now there's no timetable for his return. This fucking sucks.

Don't worry. Andre MIller will save us!

No worries, everybody. Just remember, the pre-season doesn't matter. It's completely cool that our best player is coasting through these games and acting like he couldn't care less.

Meanwhile, here's what a few other players accomplished last night:

LeBron James: 33 pts., 4 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals
Kevin Durant: 29 pts, 9 rebounds
Dwight Howard: 14 pts., 13 rebounds
David Lee: 21 pts., 12 rebounds
Brandon Bass: 17 pts., 8 rebounds
Jeff Green: 27 pts., 9 rebounds

I have one word for those guys: SUCKERS!!! They actually think you need to play hard in the preseason!! Can you believe it? Somebody should send them to the Brandon Roy School of Basketball, where you learn to just take it easy and go through the motions.

I think Roy is going thru the motions and frankly I don't like it. Isn't Nate trying to get the guys to player better D - effort is required for that. Is not Brandon the team leader - what kind of example is being set? He's only playing 25 minutes or so, can't he give more effort in that shorter time? At least LMA is playin hard every night, maybe Roy can turn it on, but will the team be ready given his apathy we've seen so far. We'll see

What the heck?? Amare Stoudemire had 39 points and 11 rebounds last night. My God, some players just don't realize that the preseason is for coasting. Set him straight, Brandon!!

Can't wait for your first, "See I told you he shouldn't have coasted in the preseason".... thread!

i agree with rizz. all hell is gonna break loose when they get off to a slow start

It may never happen. What I'm really concerned about is how Roy is playing right now, in the preaseason. There may be a spillover effect, but regardless, he should be playing just as hard right now as LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Amare Stoudamire, and lots of other "A" players.

I like that he is playing as hard as Kobe, personally.

Kobe may be getting fat and complacent due to all his championships. Roy has nothing to be fat and complacent about.

Maybe so. But maybe Roy is seeing what a champion does and has done to get ready for the season, and is thinking, that is where I want to get to, if that is what he does, that is what i should be doing. And if not, fuck it. I'm going to rant and cry and whine and bitch because a guy isn't going full bore against GS in a meaningless fucking game. You sound like one of those old people who yell at a baseball game when a player doesn't sprint to first base in a meaningless game on a weak grounder to second.

I can't understand the fans on here who seemingly get no joy from being a fan.

Considering Roy's injury history, I'd rather he played meaningless games at less than full speed. Use them for trying new things, for getting into basketball shape...the last thing I want is for him to injure himself in a pre-season game just to prove that he "never quits," even when the games don't matter.
