Biedrins is enough down low for Don Nelson to work with. I don't think Nellie would blink an eye before trading beefy for a jump shooter. :dunno:
 
I like Turiaf's energy and shot blacking, but he's a surprisingly weak rebounder. His TRB% has been 11.6 for each of the last two years. By comparison, Channing Frye also had a TRB% of 11.6 this past season - and that was the lowest of his career.

Don't get me wrong. Turiaf would be a big improvement at back-up 4 over Channing and Travis, but I was surprised to see he's such a weak rebounder.

I may be wrong, but I think it's because Biedrins is such a stud at rebounding. Kind of like how people say LMA's rebounding is low b/c of Oden and Joel being elite at it.

I'd have to check the numbers.

Biedrins is a very good rebounder (20.2 TRB%), but not as good as Joel (22.8 TRB), and Golden State didn't have any other great rebounders. Rookie Anthony Randolph and Brandan "The Human Stick Insect" Wright both had higher TRB% than Turiaf.

And for the record, so did Lamarcus Aldridge (12.5 TRB%). Posters on this board constantly compalin that LaMarcus needs to improve his rebounding. Do we want our back-up "banger" to be an even worse rebounder?

Given that he'd be sharing the floor with either Joel or Greg, I could probably live with it, but it sure would be nice to get a rebounding stud to back-up LaMarcus.

I am not surprised at his numbers at GSW - these guys gun without waiting for anything on the offense to set - so their bigs are not very likely to be ever in position to rebound on the offense.

What is worrisome is that his last year at LAL he was also at 11.6% and in prior years he was only at the 13.5% range.

Very surprising.

That tends to point to poor rebounding technique (i.e. not boxing out). Given all of Turiaf's energy and his wide frame, I would have thought he'd be a much better rebounder.

In any case, his defense, energy and willingness to bang inside would be a welcome change from Channing and Travis.

He tries to block everything remotely close to him, that's why he doesn't rebound well. He'd be good for you though, I think he is one of a very small number of good GS signing decisions.

Would the Warriors be interested in a Travis Outlaw for Turiaf deal, you think?

I like Turiaf - he's a great guy in general and a great teammate... but he's a scrub! There is no WAY that Portland would offer Travis for him! Guys like him are NOT hard to find.
 
Neither are guys like Travis Outlaw, really.

I don't think so just because Turiaf is the only backup C. Nellie said he's only going to use Randolph at PF this season (hopefully he sticks to that). The guy who I think you could get for outlaw is Brandan Wright. He's got the same problem as Turiaf that he's not a great rebounder and he's not as good a post defender but his shot blocking is just as good if not better and he's got good post moves. Every time he's had a chance to play he produces, works his way into consistent minutes then gets hurt. Him and Fernandez would be a formidable scoring duo on your second unit.
 
I would take Z-Bo and #1 for Blake, Outlaw, and Przy.
 
Brandan Wright? Our 3rd string PG weighs more than Brandan Wright. No. We need someone with a tiny bit of strength at PF. Wright is not that. Nowhere close.

Didn't Shawn Kemp play in Seattle when Brandon was growing up? I mean someone said he was already playing the league, but never said anything about the NBA. Obviously they were talking about the 3 on 3 league, 3ba international.

I think Rosie would be good in the NBA. Not the WNBA though because she would get too many hand checking fouls.

The problem with our second unit isn't scoring. We had one of the highest scoring benches in the leaguie this season. If all we want is a skinny guy who can score, we'd keep Outlaw. He's a proven double-digit scorer off the bench. What we want is a banger - a wide body to play defense and rebound. Turiaf is closer than anyone we currently have, but as mentioned his rebounding isn't great. As Oden learns to keep his fouls down, he'll become the starting center and Joel will become the back-up. That will help address the rebouding and interior defense issues, but we still need a big body that can guard opposing power forwards. Doesn't sound like Brandan Wright to me.

I was thinking the same thing, and the oddest part is that he is most effective at center. May as well package Oden or Przy for him.
