When healthy, we will have zero weaknesses.

I agree Nik. Our forwards can't handle the ball (even when at full strength with Batum, LA, Travis, Martell, & Dante) And they don't post up either. Basically, we have 2 guards guys who can attach the basket (B-Roy, JB) off the dribble.

I think Batum can handle the ball and I think he can finish at the rim. The premise of the thread was "When Healthy". If they are all on the floor, why would you need a SF who will be posting up. There is one ball. In this case you up you are wasting Greg and LMA's talents. But you are right, a motion offense would not fit this team. This year it would if you started Rudy when he is healthy.

If Bayless isn't the guy, Mills will be. Patty is averaging 38 ppg, 12 apg, & 1 tpg in the D-League. If he does half of that in the NBA, he's the answer.

Well, I've never missed a three pointer in the NBA...maybe I should get some burn, too.*

*equally irrelevant fact since that "average" is 1 game.

It can be, but because offensive rebounds don't create another possession, but are part of the original possession, you can shoot a very middling field goal percentage but still post a high efficiency.

Perhaps. The natural follow-up question to that is: So what?

I mean, the reason to get "easy shots" is to create offensive efficiency. On the offensive side of the ball, the only goal is offensive efficiency. Scoring the most points you can with your given possessions. You're losing the plot if you say, "Sure, the team was offensively efficient, but didn't get easy baskets." Easy baskets are a means to an end, they aren't the end themselves.

Yes, but in terms of basketball stats, when a player is listed 0 of 0, they are listed as .000.

Because that column of the box score traditionally isn't set up for letters. Newspapers sacrifice correctness for the sake of display.

Well, let's break this down a bit. What are possible areas of weaknesses? Let's look at them and then look at how we fair.

I'm just going to come up with some categories on the fly, feel free to add any

Offense
3pt shooting - Rudy, Outlaw, Batum, Blake, and Webster are all good. Add Mills, Roy, and perhaps JB and this category is done.

Mid-range shooting - Miller, Roy, Outlaw, LMA, JB and more. Check.

close in shooting - LMA, Oden, Roy, JB, Rudy and more. Check

iso - Roy, JB and Outlaw. It would be nice to have a little more, but solid

back to basket on the block- Oden is really all. LMA to a degree, but this is not his strength.

face the basket on the block - LMA is good but that's about all. Oden is no good here.

Pick and Roll players - We have a lot of players who excel at P&R for high or low. LMA is really starting to master this and Oden was starting to pick it up.

Assists - We don't have a really good assist man (Miller has not proved himself in this system) but a mix of Roy, Blake, Miller, JB and Rudy seem to be able to share the load. It would be nice to have someone who could really thread the needle and get the big men some easy buckets.

Defense

Perimeter D - Hard to say, we are weak at the moment but when Batum is back and with JB stepping up, this might be solid. Could use a little more though.

Interior D - Very solid when everyone is healthy, Oden, Przybilla, Batum are all excellent at their positions. LMA, Pendy and Webster are all decent at their positions on inside D.

Zone D - Decent, but I really don't think this is a big area to worry about.

Man to Man - switching is always a problem for this team, but as it really mixes with what was said about perimeter D.

Help D - Oden rocks. Batum and LMA both do decent but are sometimes late to rotate. JB is tenacious on his man, but does not help enough.

Steals - This is more of a function of the coaching. Nate is risk adverse so the Blazers don't steal much. Rudy, LMA and a few others would get many more steals with a different coach.

Blocks - ODEN AND JOEL

I am sure I have missed some areas, but it really seems that most of the areas I quickly thought of were well taken care of. A few minor areas of weakness, but nothing too scary once everyone is healthy as long as they remain healthy.

Still, this does not take into account personalities or playing time issues. I am all for limited trades till the offseason when everyone is healthy and then we can get more in trades. And then some consolidation. But the major parts are all here.

The one area I really do worry about is Center because Oden has been broken so often and I kind of doubt that Joel will ever fully recover.

Patty is averaging 38 ppg, 12 apg, & 1 tpg in the D-League.

Wow. He's played one good game, and imagine, his average also looks really good. Averages don't really convey any usable information until you have a sufficient sample size.

An excellent example of using statistics to tell a story that, likely, has little basis in reality.

Don't forget that Martell had a 25 point quarter and if we used that one sample quarter to say he was averaged 25 points per quarter we could extrapolate and say that if he only got to play all four quarters he would average 100 points per game.

Gramps...

Martell has never had a 25 point quarter. Ever.
