I was thinking about this the other day. These ultra-patriotic types, who fly the American flag out the back of the truck, who call themselves Patriots and all that...they are "proud to be Americans". Ok. Let's go with that. Do they think America was pro-Hitler? Do they think Americans didn't fight to stop Hitler? How can you be all about America and then also be all about being a racist? Have they not heard of the US being the "melting pot"? Do they not like that part of America? Phonies.

Its all such a bunch of hypocrisy it drives me crazy.
They think you shouldn't be able to tell them how to think.

Freedom is being free to be a moron and look down on people for their skin color.

It happens every day by people of every skin color.

Hypocrisy is people who say bad things about white people, complaining about white people saying bad things about them.

Fixing the system that has held people back for no reason other than their skin color is a completely different topic.

I think there is a (clear) difference between a person saying 'bad things' about someone because of their race or religion, and then that person or other people saying bad things about those same people BECAUSE they are attacking their skin or color or religion. One initiates the other. To put it in terms a five year old would use, "they started it". It seems very logical to me.

When people say "all violence is bad"...fuck that. If someone initiates violence against an innocent person, that's 'bad'. If the innocent person fights back, that is good. They aren't equal.

In theory, but then we see any kind of conservative speaker or viewpoint is shouted down and/or denied entry to campuses.

There's no such thing as diverse views in college. There's the liberal view and that's it.

Oh, that's such nonsense. There are conservative speakers every day on college campuses.

Yes, a few very extreme conservatives have gotten booted from a few campuses. That doesn't mean there is no diversity of opinion available.

What don't you get? I detest religion.

White people handed us a book that told slaves to be obedient to their masters. Those slave masters were Christians...

Again, what don't you get?

Hmmm I guess I misunderstood what you were saying.

So you just glossed over that whole I first experienced overt racism as a 6 year old part....

Of course you did...

Perhaps you should gloss over it also, instead of allowing an unpleasant instant decades ago to define your entire life. We've all had bad things happen to us, you take the bad with the good and keep on truckin'. That's life, and without challenge and adversity it would be pretty lame.

Frankly, with all the people I know personally who have dealt with racism, bullying, handicaps, chronic disease, disabling and disfiguring injuries, tragic loss of loved ones before their time, loss of their careers and homes, who soldier on without complaint or expectation of any special consideration, your constant diatribes make me feel a little embarrassed for you.

Actually, Christians were slaves of the Romans, persecuted for their beliefs rather than their pigment.

People don't worship and have a whole belief system around them either.

BLASPHEMY!

The Church of Santa Claus
The only church dedicated to the worship of Santa Claus.

Listen--do you have a moment to talk about our lord and savior, Santa Claus?

No?

Too bad.

Welcome to the Church of Santa, where we worship the almighty jolly giant known as Santa Claus.

Our jovial, gift-giving god above comes every December 25th to give thanks to all the people of the world for following in his teachings. Here's how you can join in on the worship:

1. Santa is the one true jolly red giant above. You shall have no jolly red giants before Santa. Stars included.
2. You shall not speak badly of Santa. Do you know how difficult it is delivering billions of presents in one night? Do you? Do you? Give the poor man a break. He only does this once every year.
3. Remember to spread the Christmas cheer to others. Or else you will be punished. Severely. (I think the worst Santa will do involves you needing to shovel some reindeer droppings from your roof. Don't look at me--look at that stupid Rudolph who doesn't know where the bathroom is.)
4. You shall not steal other children's presents...unless the child whose present is being stolen is asking for it. In that case, show that little sh*t who's boss and rip that 2018 Nintendo X-845 from his cold, undeserving hands. Sorry, Billy. Better luck next year.

On this day of our lord Santa, please keep in your hearts the list he's making and checking twice. He's going to find out who's naughty or nice, and he will know which kid really deserves that Rollplay Chevy Silverado.

P.S. You must be below the age of 7 in order to be a member of this congregation.

P.S.S. For those few readers who are indeed aged 7 and below: failure to follow these tenants will result in excommunication and perpetual amounts of coal in your stocking. You have been warned.

They are not patriotic.

They are not Real Americans.

Exactly like the Socialist DNC, they are anti-Americans hiding under cover while they attempt to dismantle our Constitution and our Bill of Rights and everything else about our country that makes us the best place in the world to live.

Didn't you go to Lake Oswego High School and now live in La Pine? I can't imagine much diversity at either of those places.

Who the F is “proud to be white”? Maybe you’re proud to be German or Italian or Dutch (me), but white? Shouldn’t pride be about your accomplishments or your heritage and the country you came from?

Now...if you think about it, and what black people have been through and STILL go through they have reason to be proud of being black. Maybe I’m wrong but it makes sense to me. Proud to be white? Why? What did white people have to overcome because of their whiteness?

I can trace my cultural heritage back to about 800 through offical documents and numerous countries. How many black people from the US can trace theirs farther back than 1800 or so?

It didn't define his whole life. The constant experience defined his outlook on racism. It started when he was six, not ended when he was six.
I've seen it all the time. I was one. Of course I was a small child when I was a racist. I had the good sense to grow up.

Great. We agree. Hallelujah. But then why don't true patriots - those who truly love America - some of them may be politicians on the right, let's be honest, why don't they completely and totally denounce - not only denounce, but more aggressively - put these fake patriots in their place and end the bullshit? Why doesn't Trump do that? Does he not love America?

Nope. People like you keep reinforcing the situation.

Actually, Christians were slaves of the Romans, persecuted for their beliefs rather than their pigment.

Shame how they didn't learn from that and enslaved people after that experience.

The bible reinforces this mantra.

You can't actually reason with someone who calls themselves a "patriot" while flying nazi/confederate flags. They are impervious to rational thought.

As for the Trumpy loving America - you are talking about a sick man who loves nothing but himself. If you told him he could win votes by deporting his wife and youngest child, he would do it in a heartbeat.

That isn't always what happens. There are black racists that say racist things all the time. People ignore that every time. They don't get doxxed and fired.

The tiki torch nazi idiots have every right to spew their idiotic ideas on every public street in America.

Nobody has the right to punch them.

You're free to do so and face the consequences.

The actual Nazis we WERE at war with you could certainly punch. You could kill them.

I haven't. My brother in law lives in Finland though. I know that's not Europe lol.

I have been on vacation over here for a couple weeks and I’m very curious how Europe differs from the US in how they integrated black people into their society for the past couple hundred years. I know racism exists over here. I remember reading about soccer fans throwing bananas at a black player a few years back. But I’m curious how it compares in terms of the black community feeling like it’s part of society. Do they have the same issues with police?

This seemed like a decent place for this, and unworthy of its own thread. Dem-vs.-Dem...I know that Daily Caller is not the most robust of MSM sources, so I included tweets...
1. Insert your favorite Ron Burgundy tagline here.
2. Why, in this day and age, would anyone with their own name on a twitter account, open themselves up like Mr. Bishop and Mr. Grimes did? You asked for it..."here's your sign"
3. Do you think that the radio ad screamed desperation as much as I think it did?
4. Giving her credit for going on Fox News to campaign (which is probably one reason why the world knows about this--I doubt Don Lemon is asking followups about 'crazy Democrats'), but why?

Democratic Missouri Sen. Claire McCaskill sparked a fierce backlash from a Democratic legislator in her home state after listing her as an example of a “crazy Democrat.” In a scathing series of tweets on Monday and Tuesday, Missouri Democratic state Sen. Maria Chappelle-Nadal referred to McCaskill as “Dixie Claire,” described her as a “piece of shit,” compared her to a slave owner and accused “McCaskill and her racist democratic friends” of alienating the party’s base voters.
McCaskill raised eyebrows in the final weeks of the midterm campaign by running a radio ad that described McCaskill as “not one of those crazy Democrats.”
When pressed on Monday for examples of “crazy Democrats,” McCaskill pointed to Chappelle-Nadal, who sparked outrage in 2017 by calling for President Donald Trump’s assassination.
“We have a state Senator here in Missouri that actually advocated for the assassination of President Trump. That’s a crazy Democrat,” McCaskill said in an interview with Fox News’s Bret Baier.
McCaskill’s swipe at Chappelle-Nadal provoked a sharp response.
“Claire McCaskill is desperate. She’s a piece of shit. Instead of knowing why people of color are angered by this administration, she chooses to put us [and] our families in harm’s way,” Chappelle-Nadal wrote in a tweet on Monday.
“If my family is harmed, blame it on Claire McCaskill. She deserves to lose. She is not a Democrat,” the state senator added.
“Claire McCaskill and her racist democratic friends continue to alienate the base,” Chappelle-Nadal wrote in a Tuesday morning tweet. In another she referred to McCaskill as “Dixie Claire.”

Chappelle-Nadal, who did not return an email seeking comment, also blamed McCaskill for multiple racist comments directed at her on social media.

“White Supremacy would place a person of color in physical danger. That’s what Claire McCaskill has done to my family. Shame on you, Dixie Claire. There are no more plantations. You are not Madam Massa,” Chappelle-Nadal added in another tweet.
The McCaskill campaign did not immediately return a request for comment.
The controversy comes as polls show McCaskill slipping behind Republican challenger Josh Hawley ahead of the Nov. 6 midterm elections.

I haven't. My brother in law lives in Finland though. I know that's not Europe lol.
It is Europe and has many lakes containing my favorite eating fish, the fresh water perch. It is also the home to my hunting rifle, the .270 Sako as well as the home to one of my nurses.
I've always wanted to see Finland. Of course, no. 1 on my destinations is Germany because I speak German, which was recommended to me by my high school counselor because of my interest in engineering.
Now, I'm afraid that any travel is highly difficult, at best. I'd need to have a fully equipped hospital nearby and make difficult arrangements. This makes even travel to other states very difficult. The farthest I venture is a day excursion to Ft. Lewis for trips to the commissary and PX about once a year.

My sister went to Moscow for 5 months and worked. It's racist as SHIT there. The fact that Africa has been raped to death of people and resources tells me we're pretty hated all over.

I couldn't attest personally to the treatment overall in Europe.

Can't imagine it's good tho.

That's Scandinavia.

I haven't had fresh water perch in over half a century. I used to go fishing often as a child. Kind of got out of it after we moved to Portland.

I have visited Scandinavia a long time ago. Norway is the most beautiful place I have seen - looks a bit like the Kenai peninsula in Alaska (same land features, Norway has prettier houses and cities, Alaska is on a grander scale). Finland is very nice, they have fantastic smoked fish there and the people are great (not to mention that it is the birthplace of some of the best racing drivers ever to walk the earth). My main memory of driving in Finland was how relaxing it was after Norway. Where in Norway they go around the mountains and fjords - which makes it tons of fun but very tiring, in Finland they just go through the mountains.

Damn it, I want to go there again now.

On of the funniest things there is that when they agree with you they suck the air in and it sounds like they are scared. Let's just say it is "Hhhoo" - in Denmark the will go "Hhhoo", in Sweden they will do "Hhhoo yo" and in Norway and Finland they will go "Hhhoo aha".

They made that name up, not me.

I can trace my lineage to the man that owned our family.

His name was Durrett White. He lived in Kentucky.

A neglectful black man and a racist white man is the reason I dropped the last name White.

I never say an African-American in Oswego ever and never saw one in Lake Oswego until the late 70s. In fact, I can't recall the last time I saw an African-American in Lake Oswego unless you want to count my ambulance driver who loves to talk Blazer basketball with me. A terrific guy well liked by the other patients in my ward. But, what the heck, he's just a guy like any other guy, some good some bad. Fortunately for me, all the ambulance drivers are very nice. Makes my medical misery a tad more tolerable.
