What? I have shared on here a few times and nobody has replied. I heard he completely shit the bed at the combines…..he was like HORRIBLE! Did I hear wrong. They said he couldn’t do any of the drills and measured horribly. You guys hear different?

There have been many players who didn't perform well at the combine and gone on to have a great career. This is obvious to anyone who knows the NBA.

Queen cannot move at an NBA level. I'm not saying at an elite NBA level, I'm saying the dude can't move at a basic NBA level. Clingan and Edey tested out as being far more athletic than this dude. Faster, quicker and with more bounce and they also both have a lot more length.

I'll be upset if it's Queen because the dude would be a change up from Clingan that is even less switchable on defense and more ground bound.

I can understand your concerns. He's not a perfect prospect but the guy has incredible footwork, passing and IQ. If they believe they can help him get better defensively and add a three point shot, I have no problem with it.

Have there been any players that tested the absolute worst though??? Has there ever been a guy who tested as the least athletic guy at the combine... who wasn't over 7 feet tall that has ever been a key contributor to winning in the league? I don't know for sure but just doing a quick look through the last 20 years the answer is no.

As far as watching his HIGHLIGHTS goes... even in those he looks slow, he got his stats playing old man ball in college. I don't know how in the world that will translate to the NBA. Just because the dude's feet move in effective ways doesn't mean a lot when they move so slowly.

All of that said I don't know more than the experts at ESPN and in this deep draft they have him 14th on their big board so I must be missing something. It's just everything inside of me is screaming that this dude will not get a second contract in the league. I don't know him or have anything against him, so I hope I'm wrong and you're right and I wish him all the best... especially if we pick him.

You add KD to our current roster and we are battling for the #1 spot next season!

Yeah, that's what Phoenix thought when they traded so much to get him. And he was still a youngster at 34 and had Booker.
Now he is 37.

Not sure about #1 but he if healthy no doubt would compliment the players we now have. He's going to make Houston a contender in my mind. The only thing that could curtail his career is his achilles. But like Lebron when he was that age, skill wise and energy, he's got it.

I like Queen just not for the Blazers BUT if for some crazy reason they took him and said it before an Ayton trade must be on Cronin's desk and just needs to be signed off on cause Queen with Ayton still on team would make ZERO sense. -- period

Does anyone have a link on Joker's combine stats and measurements. It's my understanding that he didn't have any and was an international man of mystery that the Nuggets took a flyer on.

show me where/when that was measured. IIRC, he never participated in a draft combine
Nikola Jokic's combine measurements, as listed by NBADraft.net, are 6'11.5" in height and 284 pounds in weight. His wingspan is 7'3". He was also noted for a 17-inch vertical jump at the combine, according to a TikTok video.
Here's a more detailed breakdown:

that links to something on the Athletic behind a paywall. Can't read it. Still, it was not the organized pre-draft combine....was it his max vertical or a no-step vertical?

besides that, I was comparing Clingan/Edey/Queen. How many MVP's do you suppose are in the future for those three? Jokic has 3 and it easily could have been 5. A generational outlier like Jokic doesn't have any bearing on those three bigs.

in this year's combine, Queen finished:

76th out of 76 in the lane agility drill
75th out of 76 in the shuttle run
75th out of 76 in the 3/4 sprint
74th out of 77 in the standing vertical
75th out of 76 in the max vertical

Well you got me there. I don’t know anything about the league. Thanks for straightening that out. I thought 2 friends of mine that are NBA advanced scouts that were actually there and saw this might be helpful here, but I guess not. Continue please……..

If your friends are worth a damn they'd tell you Queen is a top 12 player in this draft. Go look at the mocks instead of bickering with me.

Bickering? I’m posting my opinion based on first hand knowledge. Then being told i wouldn’t think this way if I “knew anything about basketball”

I don't recall seeing your opinion. Casuals are usually the ones overstating the significance of combine measurements and drills.

We better not trade this pick for a vet
I agree. On the one hand, this looks like we're going for it, which might suggest trading for a vet, but on the other, if we really believe our record is going to get a good deal better, then this is our best draft pick for the foreseeable future, so we might as well take one last stab at a star. I say we go for potential, which suggests Bryant or Essengue, but could conceivably mean Queen, although that runs counter to the whole move towards defense.

I am not sure why you're posting about Jokic who is probably the biggest outlier in NBA history; especially when you seem to be implying that we should all disregard Queen's terrible performance at the combine...why?....because Jokic?

Queen obviously has some offensive skills. But he is also obviously slow as shit and kind of floor-bound

on one hand: glad Simons is finally gone and the decade of undersized, bad-defense combo guards is over....on the other hand, 35 year old Jrue?...on one hand: the potential of Joe giving Simons a 35M/year deal is deleted....on the other hand, Jrue has a 35M/year deal then runs till he's 37....on one hand: the Blazer defense got better....on the other hand, the offense got worse....but, back to that first hand, will the offense really be worse if Jrue's experience & skills make him much better at running an offense than Simons?....on the other hand, does this say anything about Scoot?

The Blazers had 96 minutes for 3 guards before (32 mpg per player) and they still do, I do no think that bringing Jrue to replace Ant does anything for Scoot's ability to get minutes. What it does is opens the offense for Shae who is now expected to be the #1 option in the backcourt for the Blazers (with Deni being the designated wing scorer)

How many hands do you have!!!??

implying something about Queen? Thats never entered my mind. You made a spreadsheet on young centers combine measurements and I thought wow Jokic is an outlier is all. And you kept asking me where I seen the 17" so I tried to find what id seen as pass it on per your request. I didnt realize he had not particapated in the combine which is no big deal as Euros that are playing at that time are measured by someone else oversees's.
