From what I've read, and seen on youtube, Abrams has built her career compromising with Republicans. Some people will like that, and some won't care simply because she checks two demographic boxes. With as old as Biden is a VP should be more of a shadow president, ready to seamlessly step in needed. Tasking the VP with only one (very important) thing would hinder that.

A VP should oversee and help such a person, not be that person.

I don't see anyone saying they are against police but instead campaigning for police reform and with that alone will put Biden above trump who thinks the police should slam heads against door pillars and encourages police violence. That will definitely effect the black vote as well as many others.
