Is he the second worst coach in the league behind mike brown? I think so. But this is more than a Nate problem. I think Roy hasnt shown any leadership and his unproffesional comments in preseason and last week left a bad taste in my mouth....

Anyways onto the replacement.

I would give Mike Fratello a chance, seriously,

What unprofessional comments did Roy make?

He whined that he cant coexist with miller, and that blake knows where to be all the time, and that he needs the ball in his hands to be succesful, etc.

You got your money, now nut up and play, and stop shooting 40% from the field all-star

Just think he has gotten a pompus attitude lately

Where is the all of the above option, or the many of them option?

JVG has been my choice for awhile now.

I also think Pritchard would be a great choice.

Can you direct me to the quotes of him whining that he can not co-exist with Miller?

Really? KP? i put him up as a joke, dont think he knows alot of the X's and O's of an NBA offense, plus it would take away from his effectiveness of his GM duty's

I do agree all of the above should be added

Avery is the only one of this list that would be a good alternative to Nate imho. JVG? Talk about ugly basketball. This confused Blazers team looks like naked synchronized swimming compared to the brand of basketball JVG coached teams play.

Unfortunatly i heard them on the radio in an interview and i dont have them in print. I know i will get killed for it now but thats ok

JVG. He'll demand defense, but I think he's a little bit better at maximizing his player's talents. Who knows.

Where's Hubie Brown on that list? He's only 76, rested and ready.

KP won a championship in the ABA. No, it's not the NBA, but it's professional basketball nonetheless. I think he knows X's and O's just fine.

He is? Is that why the Rockets never got out of 1st round with younger Yao and T-Mac?

Please - SVG - I can understand, but JVG? Nate's ISO plays look like poetry in motion next to the JVG teams.

It would be funny to see him dancing on a stomping SHAQ leg however. Other than that - no so much.

Because they didnt get to play the Blazers???

Other i guess.... hes too old

Hey, he won coach of the year at 70. Just bring him in to right the ship and then replace him with Fratello when his health "gives out". Isn't that the standard pattern? Hire Hubie, team plays great for a while, he gets bored and resigns for unspecified "health concerns" and Fratello come out of the booth to replace him.

Yeah, they got to play Utah - a team that Adelman's Yao-less and T-Mac less just dismantled in Utah 2 days ago.

Please. JVG is less creative than Nate...

He took a less talented team (knicks) as an 8th seed to the Finals....thats pretty good

In my opinion, I believe Gundy is the perfect coach for our team. He is a great motivator, plus he is very good at designing defenses to cover all holes or weaknesses. Also, I think he is probably the most open coach to help develop a team designed around a good center and great SG.

Isn't it followed by trading Aldridge to the Lakers for a bag of chips and cap space that is turned into Zach Randolph?

I'd love to see Rick Adelman back in Portland. He seems to get the most out of his players and seems good at managing their egos.

Well if we pick coaches on teams already giving them a contract, then I would agree with Adelman. Hell lets go for the gusto and grab Phil Jackson then. :D

Well for the record, T-mac, with more talent in Orlando didn't either. The coach builds chemistry, identity and will help keep the team focused, but the players win your ball games.

No, no , no, you need to insert Tony Barone and Marc Iavaroni and a GM with Laker piss flowing in his veins for that to happen.

In a world where we could get any active coach for the Blazers, I know most of you would go the Pop route, but my favorite coach that i would love to have in portland is Rick Carlisle

Shortened season - which was as close to an anomaly as possible - in a pretty weak east, when thuggery basketball rules was still available. Look who played in the ECF - Miami when they were also playing grab and slow down the games to nothing.

The moment the NBA changed the rules to stop these ugly grind-them games where people would foul their opponents all the time - JVG's effectiveness as a coach disappeared.

As much as I hate Phil, could you imagine who good this team would look running the triangle?

They should go after Tom Thibodeaux assistant coach for the Boston Celtics and the architect of their defense. He was also the architect of Houston Rocket's defense when they were coached by Jeff Van Gundy. He's obviously familiar with how to maximize a center's production having coached Yao & KG.

The downside is the games will be low scoring and not very entertaining, but if you like defense, fundamentals & winning he'd be the ideal replacement.
