I would... but serving at desk job next to girls doesn't look as badass as i'd like it to be.

To my father, two uncles, both God-brothers, a niece, four teammates, the S2 continent and the many service men and women across the country and around the globe, a great felt Thank You.

OK, I don't know if you guys get the same feed I do, but I've been bothered by the "Salute to Service" awardee for today. Commander Beach Pace, of the US Army and EOD. At first I thought "She's not Navy, if she went to West Point, and she's not a commander, if she's Army, so maybe the Blazers messed up" (and I was going to give @HCP a bit of good-natured gruff about messing up a rank on Veteran's Day). But it turns out that her own bios state that.

Officer (Commander) US Army. 1991-1998.
She lead and managed an Explosive Ordnance Disposal Company (Bomb Squad), which provided nuclear, biological, chemical, and terrorist device support to the Mediterranean, Africa, and Southwest Asia regions. She also provided support to the U.S. Secret Service and State Department for the protection of the President, Vice President and Secretary of State. She was responsible for the leadership and technical training of the unit from new privates to seasoned sergeants and for providing consistent liaison with Italian authorities and other host country security depending on deployment.

I want to give benefit of the doubt, so Army guys, please let me know...would a 1st LT or Captain say that their rank was "Commander" if they were the XO (and acting company commander) of an EOD unit?

Looking pretty young there River, did you lie about your age?

damn, they must've had glamour shots in y'all's day, because my Boot Camp grad photo makes me look like an extra from Full Metal Jacket. and not in a good way.

This was after graduating Radioman A school at NTC in San Diego..parked me in SF until I flew out to Viet Nam..one of those cheap portrait shops near fisherman's wharf...I didn't even remember this picture until my mother passed away and I inherited a bunch of her photos
