Once again another insult. SMH. When is this guy gonna get banned?

:biglaugh:

wow, taking this irony thing a little overboard, next you are gonna try and tell me that the bills are good

Considering the results, the last time we drafted an Ohio State big man with an injury history and mismatched legs, you and I both know that there was no way Sullinger was coming to Portland. There's definitely an argument to be made for PJ3, if one subscribes to the "swing for the fences" school of drafting, which I do. However, that same school of thought supports picking Leonard as well. In fact, the arguments against Leonard and Jones are very similar. It seems hypocritical that you would decry the Leonard pick as unintelligent, but simultaneously advocate for picking a player with similar (but more glaring) question marks.

In my opinion Jones is a way better player then Leonard. I honestly hope i'm wrong. And not picking someone cause he's from the same school with far less injury problems is also idiotic.

I would say you're probably in the minority on that one, given the majority of the pre- and post- draft analysis out there.

And not picking someone cause he's from the same school with far less injury problems is also idiotic.

Sullinger's injury concerns coming out of college involved back issues, which tend to be chronic. To say that they are less than Oden's coming out of college is either disingenuous or ignorant. To ignore those injury concerns for a lottery pick would be, to quote you, idiotic. Also, Sullinger is short for his position, and below-average athletically. It is easily arguable that his bulk was the main source of his success in college, which would obviously be less of an advantage in the NBA. Too high of a risk and too little reward for an 11 pick.

I have to say that you are kinda fun to have around. When you get tired of the abuse you can always fill in at rodeos, circuses and childrens birthday parties.

PtldPlatypus just explained in a very kind way the reasoning aginst the players you are jocking, well, you respond th this? You have to have something better than what 20 and 27 teams passed on.

he called me a troll and a bunch of other things when i'm just talking basketball.

When you start a thread that ends with four questions marks, you can expect to be called a troll, because that's what you are. That's not an insult, that's a fact.

Don't like being called a troll? Stop acting like one. But, I think you got exactly what you wanted - attention.

So, where's your thread titled: Why did the Blazers draft Greg Oden 1st????

Compare the two players, and it's obvious why the Blazers took a chance on Leonard at 11. If anything, he'll likely end up having a better, longer career than Oden and end up being a gamble that paid off.

Leonard is bigger than Oden, has comparable athleticism to pre-injury Oden, and his stats weren't that far behind Oden's:

Oden:
PPG - 15.7
FG% - 61.6
FT% - 62.8
RPG - 9.6
APG - 0.7
BPG - 3.3

Leonard:
PPG - 13.6
FG% - 58.4
FT% - 72.3
RPG - 8.2
APG - 1.3
BPG - 1.9

Oden was heralded as a once a generation center, but you're labeling Leonard a big white stiff that has bust written all over him. Why? Because you're a racist?

Oden benefited from playing in one of the best programs in the country. Leonard played for a program in shambles.

Leonard looks like he belongs on the cover of "Men's Fitness". He's in way better shape than Oden ever was. Oden looks like he belongs on the cover of "AARP - The Magazine"

Even before the injuries Oden walked with a noticeable limp and looked like he needed a cane. Leonard does cartwheels after dunking.

Leonard is a hard worker that is constantly working to improve his game. Oden used rehab as an excuse to get drunk, frequent clubs and send cell phone photos of his dick.

The Blazers passed on Kevin Durant, already a 3-time NBA scoring champ with one trip to the finals at the age of 23, to draft Oden. Who, exactly did the Blazers pass on to draft Meyers Leonard? I guarantee you there was no future Kevin Durant on the board when the Blazers selected Leonard.

Here's an idea, since you obviously don't know what the fuck you're talking about, why don't you give the kid a chance. Let him play, I don't know, how about 82 games - the equivalent of Greg Oden's 5-year NBA career, before you label him a stiff, a bust and NBDL level talent.

Look, I liked Greg, was excited when the Blazers drafted him and kept pulling for him until the end. I still have two Oden jerseys hanging in my closet. Why? Because I'm a Portland Trail Blazers fan. I always want the best for my team. Can you say the same thing? If you can, you'd be excited about Meyers and his potential. But no, you'd rather post negative shit about someone you've never ever seen play. That's what makes you a troll, and a lame one at that. You're act is tired and transparent. Either start acting like a fan, go away, or step up your game. The other trolls are embarrassed by this weak ass thread.

I'm a troll cause I don't agree with our 11th pick. Ok then.

Barkley was undersized too.

Pointing out exceptions to try to discredit the rule is a very poor debating tactic.

Per wikipedia, a troll is defined as someone who posts inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as a forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking readers into an emotional response.

The characterization of you as a troll is not based on you having unpopular opinions, but on the manner of presentation and the perceived intentions. If you resent being called a troll, then you might consider toning down the vitriolic nature of your posts.

awww, i think we are hurting his little feelings

This dude has bust written all over him. I just don't get it. A big tall white stiff. Hope i'm wrong but this guy has nbdl written all over him. Who is in charge of these drafts?

Not a fan of his either, I liked Jeremy Lamb a lot better...

but don't expect much support from this board if you don't like a player...everything here is sunshine and lollipops....

Meyers Leonard was the BPA at 11, and possibly overall.

I don't really see a credible alternative they could have selected instead.

I'm a troll cause I don't agree with our 11th pick. Ok then.

No, you're a troll because you deliberately post idiotic crap for the sole purpose of getting attention. You don't provide any basis for your opinions, just trot out tired old catch phrases like "big white stiff". "bust written all over him", "NBDL talent", etc.

How about adding a little substance to your posts? Explain to us how Oden, at 15.7/9.6/0.7/3.3 was a once a generation center and Leonard at 13.6/8.2/1.3/1.9 is a big white stiff with NBDL talent and bust written all over him? Both players played the same position, in the same conference, against similar competition. Both were similar in size and athleticism (before Oden's injuries). Oden averaged an extra 2.1 PPG and 1.4 RPG. Leonard was a better passer and better FT shooter. So, why was Oden considered a future Hall of Famer and Leonard a future NBDLer? Why is Oden set to come back and dominate the NBA!!!!!!!!!!!!*, but Leonard has bust written all over him? Is 2.1 PPG and 1.4 RPG really the difference between a once a generation talent and a bust? Maybe it is, but that would require Leonard to develop into a once a generation center.

* Again the excessive use of punctuation marks in a thread title is a sure sign someone is trolling. Step up your game, man.

what I find funny is that he has been given far more respect than we give each other as a norm.

I think it's because we know each other isn't saying something for a response and knwo that if you counter someone who is trolling with quiet calm, their power dies.

you big fart face.

Best overrall in your opinion, not mine.

Maybe if you had

A: said that around draft time instead of October
B: had not used extra question marks
and
C: had actually provided some kind of substance to your post (i.e., "this player instead..." or "this is why I feel this way")

people would've thought you were trying to make a good post.

i wonder if presti would trade pj3 for leonard straight up?

i wonder if presti would trade pj3 for leonard straight up?

The Blazers would have to include Lillard AND a future first along with Leonard.

didnt pj3 get red flagged for a bum knee before the draft? and then injure his knee in summer league?

sounds like a steal at 11

Yes i'm Mixum you figured it out!! How many times do we have to go threw this?

It's "through".

We drafted him as we need a center. He's clearly a 'first round' talent and so we took him. He was also probably the best center available.

I'm not even going to read the thread. I'm going to respond to a fucking troll.

If you have one eye, and half a brain, you could identify that Leonard is not a stiff. There for you stink of troll shit.
