Why do some people spell the words "favorite" and "color" like "favourite" and "colour." I see it ALL the time, especially on BBW and CelticsBlog. Is this like the center/centre thing, where some countries spell it differently?

It's Canadian, and that's how it was supposed to be spelled until Americans changed everything.

It's because they're british..

It's the proper way to spell the words.

yeah we spell it differently to you guys - we're of brittish heritage.

ColourFavouriteMetreCentreThe letter Z is pronounced 'Zed'Even thought it's frowned upon in Canada to say it American to spell things without the u and with a 'er' and pronounce Z as 'Zee', I still do it.

I'll put up with extra letters for marks.

I know it's a british/canadian thing, but why did they do that in the first place? actually, I should be asking why americans don't spell it with a u.

I've always done it the "British way" even though I'm American. I don't know why, just have since I was little. :dunno:

Because its proper English English, not american English.

I spell it with the "U". my teachers don't like it. I tell them they aren't cultured

</div>lol Noah were not that different. Actually if anything its the Americans that changed their English first, IMO they do it just to be differant than the British.

it's stupid, I always spell it color and favorite in school anyway but the teacher says I don't know how to spell

I haven't met anyone in Canada who says aboot. But we do say 'Eh?' a lot though. Like, "Oh yeah eh?!". I had to discipline myself not to say it.
