I don't think I'm the only one who thought that the Suns had fallen apart. They tried to buy a championship by bringing in Durant and it backfired spectacularly after a finals appearance without him. And then they had to offload him for what seemed like a paltry haul. But they're kicking ass with basically Booker and a bunch of scrubs (including guys we gave away (Ighodaro, who I wanted and who started in their latest win). Where did they go right? (In fact, they're such a good story that nobody is pointing out that Maluach seems to be an even worse whiff than Yang.)

they've made moves that have worked out well. Not spectacularly well, but well enough to make a big difference

Dillon Brooks has kind of changed their identity. Mark Williams was a high risk trade that has worked well so far. Royce O'Neal was a low-key move at last year's trade deadline and has been a major contributor. And they got a giant steal by signing Collin Gillespie to a two-way deal last year and he has become a great backup PG who shoots over 40% on three's

all that after Grayson Allen has missed a dozen games and Jalen Green has only played two games

finally, Devin Booker somehow went from being a little overrated to a lot underrated in a 3 year stretch

Not much to say. They didn’t try to BUY a title (who wouldn’t if it were that easy?). They traded for Durant. Then offloaded him. Dillon Brooks is a good player. That said, they’re not having some incredible year. They’re average but have upside with Jalen Green.

Poor people! Also: owners who don't want to pay luxury tax. Also people (like Sam Presti) who realize that slow organic growth is much better than trading for an ageing superstar. I think more people have realized that, which is why the market for Giannis is surprisingly soft.

I don't mean just on this site, it seems like they're flying under the radar in general. (Note the "OT" in the thread title.)
I think it's pretty simple. They're not a great team. They're just a mediocre team that is only 5 games above .500. Nobody talks about a team with a bunch of players that everyone knows about (Booker, Brooks, Grayson Allen, Royce O'Neal) getting the big minutes.

The Suns have no breakout stars and they're just 7th in the West. I get it that it has been a while since we were in contention (about a quarter of a century) but teams don't really get talked about when they're towards the bottom of the playoff pack unless one of their players is doing something truly special. Nothing significant is happening with the Suns and therefore nobody is talking about them.

Doesn't stop you from Laker'ing on this Blazers site.
Unless Rasta is about to go on a decade long troll where he tries to piss off a bunch of the people in the forum by pretending he's a Suns fan (which wouldn't work because Blazers fans don't hate the Suns enough) then I don't get the comparison.

Just goes to show you what one true star can mean to a team. We are deeper than the Suns but their #1 is better than anyone we have.
