I know, the Lakers have 4.1 million followers. The Heat are second at 2.8 million (obviously holdovers that discovered twitter at the same time LeBron went ring chasing). But New Mexico stood out. They are surrounded by other states that have teams, but they are SOLID purple. Those other states have a lot of Laker followers, but they aren't solid purple.
BTW, does anyone think the network executives are already having nightmares over a potential POR (384K followers)/ATL (274K followers) finals?

Well obviously yes... TNT and ESPN still had the Lakers and Knicks as the top played teams on national television. Ironically, these teams are some of the worst teams in the league right now.
But I think things will change with the Silver NBA. I think fans will be more supportive of a good product, than having the popular team in the finals. It could set the tone for future progress, forcing bad "high market teams" to get better or they lose their fan base and revenue.

I couldn't make that up if I tried.
