Why Seattle should never get a NBA team again

I know, the Lakers have 4.1 million followers. The Heat are second at 2.8 million (obviously holdovers that discovered twitter at the same time LeBron went ring chasing). But New Mexico stood out. They are surrounded by other states that have teams, but they are SOLID purple. Those other states have a lot of Laker followers, but they aren't solid purple.

BTW, does anyone think the network executives are already having nightmares over a potential POR (384K followers)/ATL (274K followers) finals?

Well obviously yes... TNT and ESPN still had the Lakers and Knicks as the top played teams on national television. Ironically, these teams are some of the worst teams in the league right now.

But I think things will change with the Silver NBA. I think fans will be more supportive of a good product, than having the popular team in the finals. It could set the tone for future progress, forcing bad "high market teams" to get better or they lose their fan base and revenue.

Dude it doesn't even stop there BNM... Alaska, Canada, Idaho, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Kansas, Kentucky, VA (Don't they like the Wizards?!?), NC (They can't even support their own team?), South Carolina, Georgia, all are dominant Laker followers! WTF?!?!?

I think a lot of those places just don't care about pro basketball that much, and the ones that do probably don't follow an nba team on Twitter, so the teams with more Twitter followers will of course have more clout. I bet some of those Eastern Oregon counties literally do have about five people that actually follow a team on Twitter, so this doesn't seem that accurate.

I'm just assuming the markets without nba teams only really get national broadcasts, which is mainly Lakers, knicks, Clippers, Bulls and the Texas teams.

Don't know if anyone else said this, but my first reaction the the thread is easy...If Seattle gets and NBA team...WE WOULDN'T BE THE NORTH ANYMORE!

Man, I miss the days when the NBA had teams in both Seattle and Vancouver. Can you imagine the I-5 rivalries if the Gizzlies were still in Vancouver and the Sonics hadn't moved to OKG...

We only want Seattle to get a team so we can beat them.

We only want Seattle to get a team so we can beat them.

And attend the games in person when we beat them in their building. I have ZERO desire to fly to OKC and get cow shit on my shoes, just to be surrounded by those clueless hillbillies and their lame ass OKC chants while we beat their sorry asses. On the other hand, I'd gladly drive up I-5 to watch the Blazers beat the Sonics in their building.

Besides, if there were teams in SEA and VAN, our team would have to travel a lot fewer miles and there would be more games in our time zone.

the title of the thread should instead be "Why its so fun to watch the Lakers suck because of Kobe's ego and contract."

They hate the NBA up there now. I'm sure the % for those teams just comes from the transplants that still follow the NBA. Everybody I know that was a sonics fan up there absolutely hates the NBA. I know if Portland didn't have a team I would never watch this league.
so in your sig is that a timbers player doing the matthews 3 arrow? or did matthews take it from him? either way pretty awesome they give each other props like that

I just wanted to mention Fuck Seattle
With what though? You have these 4 choices...

1.) a string having 10 sharp razors tied onto it?
2.) a large club with splinters and nails
3.) a jack hammer
4.) All the Above

Just like in college, when in doubt, go with "All of the above"!

That's just it! Speak for yourself on the whole Seahawks thing. Every single person I grew up with......we all HATED the Seahawks, still do!

This! There's this attitude amongst many in this area that if you're a Blazer fan, then somehow you have to suck the Seattle dick like the rest of the sports world. And lately, I've never seen so much cock sucking by the sports media about the Shehags in my life. "Russel Wilson" *Suck Fap Suck Fap* "Superbowl Champions" *Suck Fap Suck Fap Tickle Balls* = Sports Media. It's fucking sad. Never seen so much dick sucking in my life; never.

But hey: born and bred 9er fan here. So go figure.

Fuck Seattle. That whole goddamn city can fall into the ocean for all I care. I hope they never get another basketball team in the history of the NBA. Go Greenbay.

Of SEATTLE? The same Seattle that's overrun by pissy liberals and bandwagon Shehawk fans, along with horrible traffic and crime?

Don't make me laugh.

Lol the bandwagon slight is so funny. Seattle fans have always been there... If we wanna talk bandwagon why don't we talk about the Santa Clara 49ers whose 'fans' try to pump up the crowd on third down when they have the ball LOL

The liberal angle is hilarious as well considering San Francisco (well, they aren't in SF anymore I guess) is like the most liberal place ever.

Bottomline fuck California and ALL their teams. California could dissappear from the map and I wouldn't give two shits.

I would greatly miss Disneyland!

Well, even though the FedEx St. Jude classic is that week, ABC doesn't have the rights, so we should be good with the trophy celebration not being pre-empted.

Bullshit. I went to a Seahawk/9ers game up in Seattle in the late 90s, and the Kingdome was EMPTY. And I've lost count the number of seattle "fans" I've asked on who their only HOF Coach is, only to have them look at me with a blank, stupid expression. And some have even said "umm...uh...Pete Carrol...?" No joke. :rolleyes3::doh: I couldn't make that up if I tried.

Not bandwagons my ass. Nice try though.

Lol using the late 90s is a horrible thing to base your fan meter on. The rose garden was empty most nights from 04-06, are Blazer fans bandwagoners?

Oh but wait a minute: you just said "seahawk fans have always been there". So...where the hell have they been until 2012? Did a bunch of Raider fans move North at one time?

Lol you're such a typical bitter whiner fan. Iirc it was your team that was utter shit the last decade. Where were your fans? Did you got for the Seahawks were in the Super Bowl in 2006? Was the homefield advantage not huge then? Of course there are bandwagon fans but the majority of Seattle fans have always been Seattle fans.

I'd miss Yosemite, the Eastern Sierra, Death Valley, the Redwoods, etc. California is a HUGE state with a lot of geographic diversity. Heck, get away from the major population centers and it's also politically diverse. There's a lot to California besides LA and the Bay Area.
