Re: Miles just schooled LeBron

Who's "we"? Presumably you represent either the doctor on whose opinion Miles' knee was declared career-ending, or the League for granting Portland the exception on those grounds.

Re: Miles just schooled LeBron

You know there's a thread for this right?

Re: Miles just schooled LeBron

I missed it BRoy. My bad. Miles looks better in his first game back from MF surgery than Greg did in his!

Miles said his knee felt fine all last year. He said he wanted to play. If we wanted him to play, he would've played. And he'd still be playing for us.

Miles last year was also so overweight that he had to use weight-loss pills, yet said he was in fine shape and ready to go on a knee that is playing bone on bone. I highly doubt he'd be playing for us.

Hey, another 20-odd points and he'll be Anthony Morrow good!

I trust, with his dominating performance, Memphis will want to reward him with a fat long-term contract?

It's a culture thing with the Blazers. Just because it's possible, doesn't mean they have to buy into it. Just like I would never, ever move to LA --even if I had a great opportunity. Culture, man. Culture.

Miles isn't dominant or the best player in the league, but he IS showing that he can play in this league and is worthy of being on an NBA roster.

How many threads on the Miles situation do we need? It's all the same topic!
Miles just took a shit, someone start a new thread so we can guess how many times he wiped his ass!! :)

5 times?

yeah, if he stays healthy AND the signing was made in Good Faith (I don't think he'll make it past the 2nd 10 day contract)

Screw Darius - we cut Von Wafer and he wasn't even unhealthy, and he's got 23 points against the Lakers tonight! I guess we're just very very picky...

Or the Blazers, for assuming nobody would sign him.

It has always been obvious he would play again.

Exactly. :tsktsk:

Good for Miles. Now I feel good about this whole thing, finally. There's no gamesmanship going on, Miles can legitimately play, so Portland is legitimately losing the cap space.

Well, I'm happy you can feel good again, but I question your reasons for doing so. If you believe that Miles has proved that his knee is not career ending, then why don't you feel icky about Portland trying to stop him playing? On the other hand, why does the fact that he played (and possibly played well, although in garbage time) prove that his injury is not career ending? I bet Cuttino Mobley could play even better, but that doesn't mean that his heart condition isn't legitimately career-ending.
Finally, why does this prove that no gamesmanship is going on? Memphis might be as surprised as some of us were that he played well. In fact, Memphis might now be a bit pissed off, because it's going to look bad when they cut him after a couple more games...

1. Does Mobley WANT to play?
2. Can Miles die because of his knee condition?

You're bending over backwards to make this WAY more complicated than it is.

Ed O.

Not exactly.

The issue was never whether he was capable of going out and playing a game at an NBA level. It was whether his knee will hold up to the rigors of playing an NBA schedule. We're going to have to wait a bit to see which side is blowing smoke.

1. We didn't want him, to play or otherwise, and

2. The NBA Collective Bargaining Agreement, the league, the players union, and an independent doctor all had to sign off on Miles being medically retired. Give the "poor, poor Darius, its all a scam" a rest.

I can't wait until Miles plays his 10th game so the Blazers pathetic attempt to keep Miles from trying to continue his NBA career can be forgotten.

I'm really hoping the Grizz give him more run so he can either blow out his knee or resurrect his career.

it's an intersting issue.

TMAC doesn't play back to back games and now is taking 2-3 weeks to condition himself.

There were years Shaq would take time off jut to let his body recover. Camby also takes time off to let his body recover.

At what point does it mean you can't handle the rigors of playing an NBA schedule?
