If so, how much money will they have, and who will they target?

Thanks

Yes, but not for the top free agents like Howard. My guess is that the blazers end up going for a couple of 5 to 8 mil players instead of one 13 mil player. Or, preferably, use their space to gt a trade done.

The ones we COULD land I wouldn't want to spend 13 million on.

Would it make sense to go after a very nice starting SG and move Wes to the bench?

Kahn is going to get trolled so hard.

Add Smoove or Pek, while retaining Hickson, and this is a contending team.

Man I hope not. Portland needs a lot more talent, so I hope they use their money in a lopsided trade instead. Big time players don't come to Portland on their own. Once they are here, however, it seems fairly easy to keep them

Is Pekovic any good on defense? Because that's the glaring weakness on this team. Unless he is I'd prefer an Omer Asik type, offensive ineptitude and all.

josh smith and tyreke evans please

I would really like to have players who are not one dimensional on offense. These two guys are below average jump shooters. The ultimate goal is to win in the playoffs when the game is slowed down. I think they would frustrate us all with their lack of shooting. Think Gerald Wallace. (Which is not horrible, just not good enough)

Good point

To be taken seriously as an NBA team you need to have several things

1. A go to guy or alpha male. Portland might have one of these in lillard, but he needs to show me he can get anywhere he wants on the floor before he gets that title from me

2. Rebounding. Hickson is a very good rebounder, and Leonard might be able to be an above average rebounder some day

3. Lock down defender on the perimeter. None, although Matthews is pretty close

4. Protection at the rim. None

5. A super sub. None

That is simply to compete

+1. I'm not all that interested in Pekovic. Slow, lumbering, good post up game, but not much else. Rebounds similar to Aldridge. No shot blocking. mediocre as a defender. Not going to be good outside at all on PnR showing.

So, how much will the Blazers have?

x amount under the cap
x for mid level exception
x for anything else(?)

They can easily get to 13 million under, Tim

Can you tack on cap space to the MLE to sign any one player?

In other words, let's say MLE is 7mil. Add that to the 13 mil and sign 2 players at 10 each on average?

To get the capspace, we would have to waive all our exceptions (MLE, etc). So, no.

No. You lose the extension if you are under the salary cap
