If you are going to scream that we should have picked him after a couple good games, you also need to acknowledge when he has a Mediocre Man game.
That doesn’t happen here though. Remember the new guy who has been starting all the random threads every time something pops into their head…..Remember him going off on me because I didn’t think Hansen was headed for superstardom? Yeah haven’t heard much about that recently. Yang is right where we all thought he’d be. Just needs to let that marinate for a few years.

I am not looking forward to that. I have not enjoyed all the Amen Thompson griping. Adding another wing player to our gripe list just seems extremely tedious.
If fans had their way we’d have a team of 15 6’9” guys who all look like Kevin Durant in their highlight reels, and they’d be wondering why we’re still only winning 35 games a year.

and they'd find other players to opine about want to trade after (checks notes) 2 games.

The good thing is, it's entirely predictable. Just wait a few weeks and they'll move on to the next shiny object.

And I don't think Blazers FO will EVER think they messed up on the pick if Yang brings us millions of fans in China. It's just that I don't give a shit about that.

I'm wondering what the payoff for the Blazers will be in a bunch of Chinese fans. Any streaming or broadcast deals because of Yang will be part of the BRI and will be split 30 ways...after the NBA takes their cut. Merchandise sales in China will also be part of BRI

when Houston added Yao, their franchise value increased pretty significantly IIRC, but they didn't get any broadcast revenue in China that was more than any other team. What the Rockets did get was an opportunity to sign partnerships with Chinese companies, I seem to recall a multi-million dollar deal with a beer company. But Yao was already a phenomenon in China before he was a Rocket. Yang wasn't, and won't be if he's limited minute backup who spends time with the Remix

Sidenote: what's going on with Washington State being a hotbed of talent? Grizzlies have struck gold two years running drafting Cougars, and check out what Mouhamed Gueye is doing for Atlanta...

I don't even remember what it feels like drafting a rookie that exceeds expectations. The last one was Dame?

Clingan did well last season. Sharpe & Scoot, not so much. Yang is about 3000 miles from being ready

I guess CJ exceeded expectations. Simons too although he was deeply flawed from the get-go

And the CBA hasn't had a talented player since Yao!

CJ and Simons certainly were fine picks, but they weren't good in year 1.

Clingan was ok last year, and has potential. But he wasn't some phenomenon.

Coward looks like he is on his way to the rookie 1st team pending injury.
