Very few young players come in with an 'FU' attitude. The ones that are more confident, seem to be the somewhat older players like Dame who played 4 years before coming to the NBA. That is not the case for most top lottery picks anymore. But even Dame deferred to LaMarcus in the beginning.
#DraftCodyThat is how I feel about the freshmen in the drafts as well. They are going to defer to older players when they enter college. They are going to try to fit in with their teammates. This is why I dismiss any critiques about a freshman not being aggressive enough or he disappeared at times during the game. Just focus on their potential, not their stats.
Knecht is very Pat Connaghton like, which in my opinion would be a great get at 14 in this particular draft.
This year's 2nd round could see quite a few rotation players that make it in the NBA. There's about 10 players I really like there. Unless we move some contracts, I'm not sure we actually take a 2RP, which sucks. Scheierman and Mogbo would be a nice 2nd round haul.I can see Baylor Schleierman going higher than he's being mocked just because he's a complete player. He's a very good three point shooter AND rebounder AND a solid defender AND he can pass AND he's legitimately large for a wing. He doesn't have Knecht's hops, but he's taller and is a MUCH better rebounder. Knecht will struggle as an NBA SF, but Schleierman could easily play that role. I'm glad the Blazers have worked him out as well as da Silva so that they can compare them, because I don't know why da Silva is being mocked a good ten to fifteen picks higher.
I also see Enrique Freeman as a guy who can contribute from day one and I would use our #34 on him. Like Schleierman he doesn't have a real Achilles heel (and is an elite rebounder, a serious area of need for us).
This year that's probably the most likely outcome of anybody taken #7.That's a great comparison, he is like Pat but with much less athleticism.
Fine if we want a guy that can develop into a bench player a few years from now. Not really an ideal pick at #7 though.
The news of blazers. . I mean trail blazer's interest in moving up is likely because schmitz loves a player he believes will not be available at 7. I have a feeling we'll move into 3 in a deal with houston

Highly unlikely now, he seems to be overtaking Sarr for #1 overallMy guess is it would be contingent on Risacher slipping to 3.

Houston is the most obvious move up target @ 3 for a 2nd Top 10 pick. It will cost one of Ant or Grant, IMHO. Make it BOTH and FVV is part of the deal (probably with Jabari Smith Jr).
The other target? Charlotte.
With the Spurs lurking at 8 — theoretically ready to scoop up Salaun or Williams …
… get #6 and take both.

Based on his honest opinionBased on rumors you heard? Or just speculation?
That's gonna be a lot of pressure. I kind of feel sorry for the kid.I don't see any way that Risacher lives up to being the number one pick.
Unlikely anyone in this draft does - their all about #10 pick quality.I don't see any way that Risacher lives up to being the number one pick.
Should we change the thread title from 7th to 3rd? The POR trade with HOU for 3rd is getting louder.

the whispers are growing. Cody Williams is pretty much a lock to be a Blazer this summer. Now, is this just folks engaging in a pre-emptive pick wars? There's only one way to find out... next Wednesday is a monster day for Portland. 4 new rookies!! (maybe)
