Well you play him and he gets injured you lose a lot of his trade value. You also don't give yourself much of a chance to get into the upper parts of the lottery in a pretty top heavy draft. Ticket sales will suck the rest of the year with or without AD, everyone in that town knows he's gone."Bench AD for the rest of the year"
- I'm sure that'll go over well with a) the league b) the fan base c) anthony davis and d) ticket sales in an already poor market.
If they keep him, they'll almost certainly have to play him, which really prohibits them from losing consistently and will be a weird situation.
Also, Lonzo - Kuzma - Ingram - 2 Firsts and Cap relief - how is that terrible?
What do you think the "best" Celtics offer even is and do you think they'd offer the "best" package for 1 year of AD with the hopes they could "convince" him to say -- keeping in mind they would've probably traded a majority of their depth to acquire AD.
And obviously you're never going to get a fair return when someone publicly demands a trade. That's the whole point, the player utilizing leverage to get what they want.
It sucks because Lonzo can't shoot and he's not that good at getting to the basket, Kuzma is basically just an ok streaky offensive player, same with Ingram and your two firsts will be like 20ish 1st round picks. Also your cap relief no stars are coming to NO without a star already there so the cap relief just means your getting a chance for more mediocre players. That is not a good package. Let's say Dame demanded a trade if that was the return the Blazers got NO ONE in Portland would be happy with that deal because it sucks...
