Lakers pull out of talks.
Demps rejected their offer of two picks, and:
Ball
Ingram
Kuzma
Hart
Zubac
KCP
Much respect to Demps -- quality >>>>>> quantity!
I never understand why people seem to think that a lot of mediocre players = 1 great player. Only if they can do some Power Rangers shit.

Best part of this is that every young Lakers player knows he is completely expendable.

I also wonder how highly the Pels would value CJ. The way they structured their defense in the playoffs last season and the first 2 games this season sure seems to indicate that don't think CJ has a big impact on games.
They seem perfectly happy to trot out Davis as the centerpiece of a losing team. Replacing him with CJ will at least net them similar results.

I’m probably the only one here who thinks that but I think Ingram, Kuzma, Ball, Zubac and four firsts for Davis is a hell of a haul. None of those four are all star level but all are quite good with potential, you don’t actually have to keep them all - you will be able to flip them for good value easily. Four firsts if without protection is very, very good, this year it could easily be a lottery pick, then in 2023 and 2025 you might be looking at very high picks as well as this is post-LeBron era.
The only thing worthwhile are those draft picks. THAT'S a haul! If a team is stupid enough to give them that many 1sts, they should absolutely take it. To hell with those players though! Take Zubac and flip the rest for anything you can get.

If the Pelicans were insistent on JUST young pieces/picks for Davis, who could we look to as a partner to move CJ to, to get them other assets?

Blazers In: Davis
Out: CJ, Collins, 1st

Team X In: CJ
Out: Young players? Picks?

NOP In: Collins, 1st, other pieces
Out: Davis

There was that discussion a week or so ago about Orlando, and not wanting to move Gordon, but to pair him with CJ...

Isaac, Ross, a 1st for CJ? Isaac and the 1st to NOP?

CJ is not young to rebuilding teams...Simons, Trent Jr., Biggie and Zach are young...these are the type of tank your butt off Pels targets and they are tanking...CJ will win them too many games

If that's all it would take to get Davis, they would've already taken the latest Lakers offer.

I get that Ingram and Kuzma and Ball are young...... but they're acting like Ingram is a young KD, Ball is a young Kidd, and Kuzma is........ I don't even know.

The guys just aren't that good. They're pissed because they had high picks for several years and haven't really shown anything from it. They could have drafted Tatum. They could have drafted Brown. They could have drafted Porzingis. They just had horrible draft teams.

This is playing out so well...Lebron injured...coach on the hot seat..players fighting ..GM puts the entire roster on the block...Lebron comes back
Is it me or is this sort of like the New York Knicks after acquiring Carmelo Anthony from Denver? Coaching Ferris Wheel....bus station roster and a star?

What I really like is that all the guys that got put on the block and snubbed will not resign for the Lakers. The next couple of years are going to be really bad for the Lakers they better hold on to their draft picks and pick well. If I was them I might put Lebron on the block next year if I could.

Lakers down 23 in the 2nd quarter against an Oladipo less Pacers.

Lebron is playing. Sorta. He's just standing there. Same as everyone else.

What a cluster. Lebron and Rich Paul did this-- completely destroyed the confidence in all the young guys. Why try hard when they wanna get rid of you?

Always respected Lebron but at some point theres a pattern... Lebron / RP and his group have to control the narrative, the media, never seems to be happy with his coach unless he has a guy who is basically working for him. When his teams win its because Lebrons great, when they lose its because his teammates suck...
Might be the best player in the history of basketball but, I think may be abusing that power a bit too much, guess its his life / career not mine so his choice.

Also I hated KD’s decision to go to GS, but I absolutely respect that they work for Free Agency so they can do what they want. I think all these Stars demanding to be traded a year+ before their contract ends is terrible for the NBA product though. This whole AD thing while its great to talk about and 29 teams can get their hopes up. It SUCKS for the NBA. Even if he comes here, I dont think its a great look for the NBA that their contracts basically mean nothing and players can control everything.

Portland is the only exception that is good, wholesome and peaceful to the universe. :mob:

Who would have thought it'd be off-court intangibles, team chemistry, and agents that cement Jordan as the GOAT?

Id love it lol. I just think it sucks that they sign a contract for a ton of money and force their franchises into bad trades. Least LMA waited out his contract to move on, I know, I know he lied all that, doesnt matter what he said though he played out his contract everyone knew he MIGHT leave.

If the Lakers don't get Lebron a Super Star or two he won't wion a ship in LA. He cannot do it without, couldn't Cleveland before Miami and couldn't without Kyrie/Love.
Magic has to be pulling his hair out since he now knows chances of a deal with Pels doest look good. Bean Town and other teams can offer more to NO and Magic now knows it.
If they strike out with Davis and Leonard stays its going to be a long 2-3 years for Lebron.
I don't see Durant going there but maybe Boggie?

And the flip side is, Nik Stauskas signed a contract with the Trail Blazers. And they didnt honor that contract to the end, they shipped him to Cleveland. They saw a better opportunity, and they went for it. If it's ok to send a player away on a whim, shouldnt it be ok for the players to ask to leave?
I wish Aldridge demanded a trade so his bitch ass could have been sent anywhere for a pick, or young player, instead of walking for nothing.

And fucked us. If he demanded out, we could have started the rebuild a year early and traded him, Matthews, Lopez and batum.

But with the Blazer/Cavs trade, it was something both teams wanted that there was approximately equal value for. With Davis, that is completely not the case and because he did what he did in the manner done, it will be almost impossible for the Pelicans to get close to equal value.

Of course but Nik Stauskus does not Equal Anthony Davis. I think that arguement is better suited to Blake Griffin who got kind of screwed by the Clippers. The thing is though that guys demanding a trade especially publicly totally screws over a franchise, their fans, and their teammates. Im ok with AD or whomever going to their team and saying hey this isnt working can you move me. All these leaks from agents and yes sometimes teams too really bug me though.

I'm actually kind of glad KD went to GS because it showed his true colors of being mentally weak and needing to take the easiest possible path to a title. I will never consider him a champion unless he wins one somewhere else.

Nik wanted to be traded to Cleveland? Baldwin? The teams agreed, sure. But it's funny to demand loyalty to a contract from players when the expectation isnt there from the teams as long as its beneficial for each of them.
