Woj: Robert Williams needs knee surgery

I hope the big guy heals well, he could miss a season or just 4 months or so, his choice. At least his leg didn't snap off like Nurk's. If Williams gets fixed, they need to seriously load manage him because he's on a 4 year deal and just lost a lot of trade value.

ITS MOSES BROWN TIME!!!!
Reath hasn't been called up yet. Billups needs a Center that can fire away from downtown. Doesn't matter if it drops, or even hits the rim. It was "a good look".

Hopefully Williams can still teach Moses and Duop a few tricks from the sidelines while he recovers. Take a big man player coach role while he gets fixed

I'll bet we'll see a lot of small ball with Walker playing the 5 ....bring on Ish! We need a tank like him as well!

did you really think the Celtics would throw him in on the Jrue deal if he was truly healthy and thought to be good to go? Remind of any player who has had multiple arthroscopy surgeries on the same knee early on in their career who then went on to a long productive career. He was dealt to the Blazers as damaged goods with a matching salary as many here speculated at the time... the value in that deal was Brogdon and the picks.

Yup. Signed GP2 who was injured, traded for RWIII who is always injured. Even Scoot dealt with injuries in the G-League. It's not like we avoid the injury prone types.

signed a 4 year deal to injury prone Nassir Little. Then the Front Office jotted down GP2 & Nas missed games as the reason why the team couldn't win with Lillard. Every team gets ouchies throughout the season. Watching Portland blame blatant tanking on the injury bug is farfetched. The end of season pressers have become a comedy skit.

Yeah, why oh why did they draft Lillard coming off of a broken foot??? Most everyone who has played a significant amount of hoops has been injured a few times... it's part of the game. With this in mind, it's important to differentiate between injuries that cause long term issues and those that can be overcome. Knees, ankles and backs are among the most chronic issues, which is why I didn't think Williams would be playing much going forward.

A foot can be bad as well.

There are many examples of foot injuries derailing promising careers. Hoops is a rough game with the floor dealing out much of the punishment. Everyone gets injured but not all injuries are the same.

Yep I always worry about injuries to feet. They don't heal fast and they can become chronic.

worry sure, but Lillard & MJ are a couple of prime examples where players careers were not derailed by a broken foot. I worry more about joint injuries, especially knees. Cartilage doesn't grow back.

So Williams deal runs out after 25-26, which is the same offseason Shaedon's rookie deal is over. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but that means that they could clear that capspace for a FA prior to reupping SS right?

Shaedon's cap hold is just over 11M. So yeah besides that if Rob were still on the team for some reason, we could let him walk and that would clear out a little cap space.

I love the people on this thread thinking this furthers the "Blazers Big Man Curse" ... look at his games played in his career! This guy was an injury just waiting to happen and why some of us were calling for him to be traded the minute we got him. Hell I'd deal Brogdon right now too if I could!

Well I think he's doing the right thing getting it completely repaired now instead of just cleaned up so he could still play in a couple of months. We have him for 3seasons so he'll be back. Nurk took longer to get back.

It changes nothing. He would need surgery wherever he goes.
