Seems like they get eaten alive lately by star players and quick guards. I thought they were always known as solid defenders. They aren't even close to elite or lock down guys.

Idk these last few games have been very sobering to me as a fan.

I'd hate to see what you are like drunk on this team.

You might actually say a back hand compliment.

If it will make you and your unrelenting negativity go away, yes.

I don't mind people pointing out weaknesses but when realistically all they do is disparage the team, I'd rather you went away.

Of course, someone is apt to point out that I just "fed the troll".

Gramps...

Just saying we are suppose to have good defensive wings and center yet we stink on defense... Besides lillard what's the prob?

I think Wes is more overrated in this area than Batum. Batum just coasts sometimes. They are both much better than average though.

I need to work on my troll defense. I can't seem to stop them from posting.

They are both pretty good defenders. NBA players are elite. Combine that with the rules that favor offense, and no one shuts down an elite NBA player. If you are waiting for Wes or Nico to hold anyone scoreless, you will be disappointed.

Next to Lillard and Mo Williams, they look like they belong on the all defensive team. Out of our five starters, I'd say Wes and Nico are best defenders we have.

Keep in mind too that, despite all the lip service Stotts gives to defense, he values offense more. I think it's just too difficult to focus on both offense and defense playing starters minutes. When Wes or Nico is given the assignment to forget offense and focus on defense, they are pretty darn effective.

So this isn't a legit question? This forum cannot take critisism or hard questions.

you wait 11 minutes before stating that only 5 different responses means that the forum "can't take hard questions?"

No, I don't think they're overrated.

Guys, please stop responding to his posts. He's doing this on purpose.

my response will be random videos.

Remember when I told you guys mixum would come back? Don't say I didn't warn you. He is a cancer that will not change and will eat this forum until he destroys it.

Keep him here for all I care. I'm choosing to just ignore this guy. I know this isn't technically breaking the rules, but we all know the intent. The sooner he's gone, the easier this forum will have sensible debates.

LOL!

Batum is very overrated defending against SF's, they burn him, especially physical players. But he is very good against small guards, is good defending the ball and great defending in the open court.

Wes is rated accurately. He is solid, above average defender but not elite. On a team of poor defenders that often makes him the best by default.

LaMarcus is the one vastly overrated as a defender. Lots of fans look at opposing PF stats but the problem is LaMarcus never correctly rotates off his man to help. For example on the Dallas game winner it was his responsibility to rotate onto Ellis but he just stood back, there wasn't enough time to pass it. When Lopez rotates over to prevent shots at the rim on penetration LaMarcus sticks with his guy trying to seal for a rebound; he doesn't help guard Lopez's man. Thats how Bosh ends up with 37, just like many centers we face. Its not LaMarcus' man but its his responsibility to help.

I don't believe anyone has ever said that.

You don't have to say that. When someone is perma banned for being a troll, then allowed back; the intention was that he will not troll anymore. Isn't that correct? I mean if someone gets a perma ban for trolling, the second chance means he must not troll anymore.

But it's fine, you guys control this forum and I trust you guys will do the right thing. In the meantime, I'm just gonna ignore the troll that usually only posts after losses, with mainly "why do we suck?" Threads

That begs the question of who actually thinks LMA has ever been a good defender? I have hardly ever seen it.

It's a legit question and a legit opinion. Mixulito isn't the only one who thinks this. I happen to disagree. My previous post is on the record.

I think Wes is a good defender, who gives great effort. Batum is good too, but I hate how he lets his guy get by him on purpose so he can try to block their shot. Annoying. I love them both.

Well James Harden made Mathews look like a damn fool. He couldn't even stay in front of him. Same goes for Kevin Martin when we played OKC.

Who can stay in front of Harden with any sort of consistency?

We can ban a moniker but we can't ban an IP address.

As for this concept... This isn't about an individual issue, since no team plays man to man but the Blazers. We leave these players out on their own and hope they can stay with their man.

If Stotts could throw a double here and there, the defense would be much greater.
