I think Detroit would bite because Josh Smith is best at PF. There aren't enough minutes to distribute between Drummond, Monroe and Smith. I think they would agree to deal us Monroe and Villanueva for Batum.

Would any of you guys be for that?

Of course, then you could trade LMA for a really good SF.

Then what at sf? I'd rather not. I'd rather develop what we got rather than make another hole for us.

Or keep them and see how it goes. We would have 5 very strong bigs at our disposal (Aldridge, Monroe, Lopez, T. Rob and Leonard). Have stotts work with them and find the best combo to start and best bench. Then whomever is left over, just trade for other needs.

I think a hole at SF is easier to fill than center and PF. Wright isn't half bad either and Claver can be a back-up.

But who could start at sf then? You could put LMA there on offense, but what about defense?

Wright could start at SF

I think Monroe and T. Rob would work great together; while Aldridge and Lopez would be awesome too

LOL in like 2 seconds

16/10/4 19.5 PER

vs

14/6/5 15.7 PER

One is a 6' 11" and one is 6' 8"

You would only do this move if you had designs on moving Lamarcus. Monroe is a starter and wants to remain one. He and Lamarcus would not work together. They play the same position. It's a move I would consider though only if we could get a significant SF back for LA. And where is that guy? I think we already have him in Batum.

Paul George. Not that I sure they would do it (they don't really need a PF) but seems equal compensation for LMA.

Greg Monroe led the league in shots per game at the rim. He and LaMarcus would be just fine

Um who's gonna play D? There are 2 sides of the ball remember? Our Post D as well as rim protection would continue to suck and we will have gotten Lopez for nothing.

Plus where are all the minutes for:

Aldridge/Robinson/Freeland
Monroe/Lopez/Leonard

Somebody's got to go. We should only go after Monroe (with Batum) if Aldridge is on his way out too.

Leonard and Freeland are not of concern if you are able to acquire Monroe while keeping Aldridge. Lopez becomes the first big off the bench and Robinson mops up with any available minutes. Monroe becomes insurance in case Aldridge wants out.

Not saying I think Detroit goes for this, but if it DID happen, I think you keep developing Leonard and Robinson while Monroe and Aldridge start, and Lopez is primary backup off the bench.

I'm with MM. IMO, this would be a no brainer, which is also why I doubt Detroit would do it.

I would love to see Monroe and Aldridge playing together, because of Monroe's passing ability. As far as defense is concerned, absent a decent scheme, the personnel will be irrelevant.

As for the hole at SF, I would think that in this scenario, we would probably be able to then deal Robinson and Leonard (who would no longer have minutes for development) for a decent SF.

Aldridge is a very above average defender. I don't understand your issue?

Sure I'd trade Nicolas for Monroe. People want to complain about Monroe's defense, but the dirty little secret is that Nic is no great shakes on D anyway, so I'm not sure you're losing much.

96 minutes between the two spots

If Aldridge and Monroe get 70 of them, then Lopez gets 26 and Freeland and leonar_ get what they deserve

Nic is a poor defender. Some fans, for some reason, don't want to see it

Yes, Batum and LaMarcus have been with the team the longest. We should be rotating new players onto the team every few years.

Nic for Drummond - yes. Nic for Monroe - no.
LMA for Monroe + ...yes.

Nolan was here longer than Damian. we got rid of the wrong PG

I think Monroe and T. Rob would be a good combo. And hopefully Monroe could develop a defensive game. If not; then you have either Monroe, Lopez or Aldridge to use as a trade chip before the deadline.

Exactly!
