Would you keep Felton if it meant we could afford Hibbert?

how would felton be a qualifier for that to happen?

Can we throw all our money at Hibbert and then go over cap with Felton and his Bird rights?

We can't throw all our money at Hibbert and get a top flight PG, can we?

You should've worded your thread title better.

As in...

"If one of the ways to sign Hibbert was by keeping Felton (at a reasonable contract), would you do it?"

the way you wrote it made it ass backwards.

I'd keep him locked up in my cellar, far away from the Blazers, sure.

Felton's time in Portland is done. I don't think anyone in our organization wants him back.

How about: If we could sign Hibbert but it meant we wouldn't have any point guards on the team.... I'd do that before I'd resort to Felton. Put a fork in it. He's done as a Blazer.

I think a more realistic and interesting question would be: Would you keep Flynn and make him our starting point guard if it meant we could afford and sign Hibbert? I'd do that before another Feltdown Meltdown.

Why yes. Yes I would. And what an interesting question. Repped!

Flynn is not a starting caliber PG -- he's barely a backup right now.

Oh, come on. That's just stupid. Flynn is an epic bust. If you thought Felton made a lot of unforced errors, just wait until Flynn starts playing 32 min a game. Blazers fans would turn on Flynn like a hungry lion on a wounded game park janitor. What's worse, I can't think of a single derogatory nickname that rhymes with 'Flynn'. Learn the game, then ban yourself.

We don't have Bird Rights on Felton. The most the Blazers could offer him after making all of the rest of their signings would be the MLE. Of course, the way he played this year, he may not get any offers greater than that.

Gotcha. Yea, who would offer him more?

I'm sure old Ray Ray thinks he's worth 4-5 million per year anyway. I would much rather sink our cash into a point guard this summer and start Aldridge/Hickson next year. If we can't get Deron, I'd get Dragic and maybe Kris Humphries. Draft a shooting guard like Lamb and maybe take a flyer on one of the raw forwards with our pick.

Dragic/Flynn/Smith
Matthews/Lamb
Batum/Babbitt
Hickson/Humphries
Aldridge/Joel

Not a GREAT lineup, but it would have quite a bit of young talent with Aldridge, Hickson, Batum, Lamb, and Dragic. That would probably be your starting lineup in a couple years.

A better question would be, "Would you let your wife stay in your wine cellar with Felton if it meant we could afford Hibbert?"

I would only want Felton if he signed a contract with Richard Simmons.

For that, absolutely. Not likely though, some team with a legit coach will pick him up.

Felton could fumble a wet dream. No way do I want him near actual balls.

Indiana will match any offer for Hibbert, IMO. Perhaps the best the thing to do is make a run and put all your resources on someone you think you have an actual chance at. I hear that Dragic may take us seriously.

What is the cap hold on a max player? I ask because, I can't believe it would be 25 mil which would be the amount the Blazers would have to spend if they renounce the rights of Nic Batum.
