Its all so... meh. Jovic is nice. Picks seem to be rather..meh (Riley barely goes into the lottery). Take Nurk out and it looks better.
 
I would trade Martin somewhere else as well. Get another first round pick hopefully.

Five firsts would be nice.

The main problem with this offer is that we don't come away with any players that I'm confident will be in our rotation anytime soon. I'm still holding out hope that we can do something with Boston and then send Brown to OKC/Houston/San Antonio.

the 2025 & 2027 swaps are a bit of a joke, no value IMO. And I don't really care about Highsmith. He'd be the 15th player and I'd rather leave that slot open

as long as all the Miami picks & swap(s) are unprotected and the pick coming from Herro is almost unprotected...maybe accept

but I'd also be inclined to refuse all Miami offers until Dame backs off of his Miami or bust stance. Portland needs actual other options to compare to Miami's

I've read that report. I wonder what the other offers have been. It's hard to imagine two parties have had a discussion where only one offer was brought up. I would assume at the very least Portland has told Miami what they want in return.
 
I know I am preaching to the choir here...

but when outsiders push back against the Blazers fans' argument that "the Heat picks won't amount to much even in 2028 and 2030," they always do so by citing the fact that it has happened in the past and Riley won't be there forever. However, what these voices fail to take into account is the fact that the Miami Heat had control over their picks when they decided to go the lottery route. Yes, they sucked in 2008 and got Beasley... but they tanked because they had that pick. Look at the Brooklyn Nets situation now... there is no incentive for them to lose games, and thus, even if they significantly underachieve this year, it's hard not see them as a play-in contender at the very least. What might Houston receive at best? The 12th pick? Not awful, but also not an absolute prize.

We live in an NBA world where simply being a bad-to-mediocre team is no longer sufficient to get a high lottery pick. In the current landscape, tanking wins. And thus, if there are teams out there for which tanking is not beneficial to their own interests, they will probably always be good enough to be in the play-in conversation, and this is doubly true for a team in the Miami market.

Even with Dame, Jimmy, Spo, and Riley gone, if Miami has no control over their drafts, they will continue to prioritize winning in the present. And as such, they will continue to be an extremely attractive destination for star-level NBA talent. Okay, rant (all of which you all already know) over.
 
I don't think Miami has the ability to make that type of offer.

I'd remove Nurk from the trade & add in Little.
I'd also want Miami to remove Highsmith, but add in Orlando Robinson (technically he can't be in the trade, but Miami could cut him & Portland could claim him while on the waiver wire).

Given those changes, that is the minimum of what I would accept from Miami.... but again, I don't think they can even get there.
 
I prefer this one:
Dame, Nurk and Jeenathan Williams (his contract becomes guaranteed on 8/1 and I haven't seen that they've renounced him yet) for
Herro, Jovic, Jacquez (can't be traded until 7/31), Lowry, and Orlando Robinson (he can't be traded until 9/29-watched him a few times in summer league and has some pretty good upside), along with 1st rounders in 24 (OKC has to agree to take the 1st in 26, which would be unprotected), 28 & 30, with pick swaps in 25, 27 & 29.

I would rather just take Herro now and see if you can't up his value by having him play to start the season. Trade him at the trade deadline to a team that needs his skills for picks.
Lowry can either be bought out or maybe you could get some 2nd rounders out of him to a team that needs a vet PG, like Chicago.

I would take this offer sans Martin. Obviously I would try to get Martin and flip him for a first but if they aren't moving him I take the 4 firsts, salary filler, Jaquez and Jovic. To me that is two quality players and 4 firsts, as long as Schmitz has good grades on those two prospects.

That being said if Kyle Lowry is part of the salary filler, I would see if Brooklyn would be interested in him for Simmons and 1 or maybe even 2 firsts... maybe even send them Nas if that helps secure a second first rounder. I guess all of that is if the Nets aren't already involved as the third team getting Herro.

I really don’t think Jaquez and Jovic are quality players. I bet they don’t even get minutes.

Not exactly that, but something along that framework.

I was for trading Nurk, but now I'm not married to that. We definitely need another C if we trade him, and I've read some things I've found compelling that trading Nurk's contract might actually make a team less inclined to send us a draft pick.

I wasn't big on Jovic until seeing him in the last few weeks. I think he's a borderline rotation guy this season who has a good chance of turning into a good four or stretch five. Jaquez is going to be a guy that helps his team a lot more than the boxscore will say, I'm pretty confident of that. Is he a rotation guy this season? Depends who else is on the roster.

I like Martin a lot, especially because I got this idea in my head of a defense with him, Thybulle, Ben Simmons and even a few minutes of Rupert. That said, I like the idea of getting a first-round pick for Martin even more.

On our rebuilding team they would. I also think that Jaquez would get minutes on Miami. They have a depth issue and he's a four year college player who does very well on both ends of the floor. Jovic is still developing so I don't think he'd get minutes in Miami but I think he'd definitely get PT here. Like I said, it would depend on how Schmitz has them graded out.

Where does Jaquez get minutes? We have Thybulle and Nas who will both be playing the three most likely. Shae also might get minutes at small forward.

Jovic MIGHT get minutes over Bari but I don’t think so. Walker plays WAY better defense and rebounds.
 
I don’t see a starting small forward better than Thybulle.
I want somebody like Tari Eason. I am not interested in five years of losing.
 
If Dame wants to win now, why can’t the trailblazers? I want the trailblazers to win now. Next season and next season and next season.

I know most people don’t want dame back. But I do if the Blazers cannot get a starting small forward or power forward or Center in a trade with someone at the level of Lillard.

In my opinion Dame has two choices:
1. Give the Trail Blazers a list of 5 to 10 teams where he would be willing to play.
2. Play next season for the trailblazers.
 
Do the Trail Blazers even get a Cam Johnson in that trade? Let alone a Mikal Bridges.

Durant and T.J. Warren to Phoenix for Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder, four first-round picks and a 2028 draft swap.
