Speaking of Beltran and the past when mentioning his name the most prominent memory I have is Waino striking him out with the bases juiced in game 7 of the '06 NLCS.

Ah last I checked, this is a team sport where the critical stat are Wins....this season.

Yep, wins are why they play the game.
And last time I checked , there are 5 SP in a rotation.
One of them (Warren) has just pitched consecutive games where he pitched 7 IP and 6.1 IP without allowing more than 2 ER in either game.

And of course we had another one of those "5" pitch 8 IP allowing 2 ER.

Yes wins are the bottom line.....and don't expect to go very far if your SPs are going to allow 5 or more runs in every game they start.

Of course it's unreasonable to expect every one of your SP go at least 6-7 IP and allow 2 ER in every start, but if it ever did happen, you can expect your "team" to win a lot of games.....ALOT of games.

Give Warren some credit......he could be, possibly on the verge of becoming a good solid SP....and he isn't "old"!

...but what about "run differential"?

And?

How many teams are in 1st place without a PLUS run differential?
For future reference, when the time comes- let me know how many teams FINISH in 1st place with a MINUS run differential and how many play in the WS with a MINUS run differential.

I don't understand this silly attempt at humor and sarcasm over this issue.

...actually, considering recent history, I don't expect you to "understand" much of anything.

Lol.....you really bit off more than you can chew on this issue.
Post 64 took care of it.

Stop harping on first place when it's May 21st. This team now stands at 22-19 which is the exact same record as they had last year after 41 games.

BTW I will hopefully not be torturing myself by going to the game on Saturday.
