...they simply have to win this game today...nuff said. Win today and rest Monday and play at home Tuesday. If they lose today and Houston wins I don't like the Yanx' chances at all playing in Houston.

( for those of you that still care..)

Yep, team looks like sh!t the past week but whether we like it or not, one win and they get a ticket to the tournament while currently tied for 3rd best record in league - not exactly a catastrophe if we reflect back to off season and ST expectations for team success.

I bow my head slightly and say.... GO YANKS!

Ok this is some funny shit. I just read on The New Post.com Girardi's take on Chasen Shreve his exact words. "If I get a chance I am going to put him out there Sunday, If the situation presents itself"..... What a Jackass. LMAO

Obviously this means nothing as the Yankees are CLEARLY the worst team going into the PS.

I laughed so hard I was crying...........You just can't make this shit up. So far so good for the Jets 20-7 going into the half.

From the book "Balls" you'll find Nettles profound statement "On any given day one Major League can beat another" so we'll see. Home Field has not worked out that well for the Yankees who allegedly had the most favorable of Home/rRaod games after the All Star Break.

currently tied for 3rd best record in league ....

You highlighted the above from my post and then said - "CLEARLY the Yanks are the worst team going into the PS".

As we speak- there are just TWO teams with better records.....so, according to your math, you're not accurate.

You guys never change......sickening.

Nice try Rick.....and by the way...can we just get into the LDS and then see how much BETTER the other guys are?

Okay, please allow me to blend in -----Fire Cashman!
Yanks did NOT exceed expectations predicted by MOST on this board AND in the media!

Feel better now?

...not sure why Shreve is being singled out because his performance had absolutely no bearing on the outcome of the game. The O's scored 9 runs and the Yanx scored 2...the Yanx managed 6 hits and were a pathetic 1 for 12 with RISP... the Yanx have many question marks going into the PS but Shreve is the focus?

...Betances didn't pitch well in his appearance yesterday either...I suppose Joe should put him in either if "the situation presents itself".

Quibbling over percentage points after what has gone on with this club as of late is more sickening. Depending on today's outcomes they very well have a chance of entering the post season with the worst record.

Ok smart ass you want to start me up again don't you. The only reason I posted that quote because it's a must win for HFA. Do you really want to see Shreve with his 16.20 ERA come into a game that the Yankees are winning? I certainly don't. You keep it up and I will come to your house and steal your supply of cheeto's.

^^^yup, and I'm pretty sure that Rick was referencing how poorly the Yanx have been playing recently as his basis for how "poor the Yanx are entering the PS".

I've also pointed out a few times that over the last 60+ games the Yankees are a below .500 team. A team that at one time was 8 games up in the division needs game 162 just to clinch home field in a wild card game. Pretty ridiculous.

..."16.20 ERA"?.... not sure what sample size you're using but his ERA is for the year is 3.09...that's by no means stellar but he's been solid for most of the year and has simply hit a rough spot lately...and Girardi did stipulate using him today with "if the situation presents itself".

...I'm only saying that among all of the reasons why this team has underperformed recently, Shreve isn't the biggest reason or the only reason.

...and I'm not in the least bit worried about my Chee-tos stash...I have Chester Cheetah guarding them....HA !

LMFAO............The 16.20 ERA is from this past month. Not the entire year.

...since they're in the PS sweepstakes, obviously anything can happen and a team can suddenly get hot and over-achieve...but other than homeristically rooting for the pinstriped laundry, I have seen very little all year to lead me to believe the Yanx will be a force in the PS.

...I figured it was something like that but again, that's why it's referred to as an "earned run average". Like I said, Betances has had a few hiccups and erratic performances lately too...but both pitchers are better than they have been recently.
...I not worried about either of them because again, I know they're better...and if the offense does not wake the hell up, the pitching won't matter much anyway. I also know that McCann, Ellsbury, Gardner, et al, are all better players than they've shown recently...just gotta hope that the worm will finally turn.

Indeed.

Neither do you genius. Ever hear the phase "What have you done for me lately" Of the current 11 teams either in or fighting for a playoff spot only the Astros & Yankees are playing under 500 over the last 2 months.

Cubs = 41-18
Jays = 40-17
Pirates = 37-22
Rangers = 37-22
Mets 36-22
Cards = 34-23
Dodgers = 33-25
Royals = 33-26
Angels = 30-29
Astros = 28-29
Yankees = 29-30

But hey........................................................................................................................................................nice try.

and all this time I thought ERA stood for: "erratic run average", didn't MLB change that just this year.....?

At the beginning of this Season, several of us, made predictions as to the amount of games this team would Win.

Anyone got a leftover link to that one........?

...well played, Sir.

sorry to interrupt this Yanx game post with: -

During last nights ball-game, Donnie said, in the NLDS vs the Mets, the Bums are going with a 3 man rotation:

1- Kershaw
2- Greinke
3- TBD
4- Kershaw
5- Greinke

bold move, or foolish one....??? A risk, could be? Yet, I kind of like this bold move; kind of in the same vein (or vain?) of CG SP's.......(tho' we all know, they've gotta' use their BP 2)......

time will tell vain like foolish, or vein like the desperate Heart of Winning.....

Sounds like desperation to me.
