Why I still get suprised by some of Girardi's decisions I'll never know, but this one is another one of those..."Joe WTF are you thinking"? things.

In an effort to stretch out the rotation Girardi has inserted a reliever to start tonight's game & no its not the logical choice of Warren, it's this guy.....................

LHP - Chris Capuano, (0-4, 5.64 ERA)

VS.

LHP - Martin Perez, (0-1, 4.91 ERA)

Chris Capuano = 0-4 with a 5.64 ERA in 30 IP & a WHIP of 1.549
Adam Warren = 6-5 with a 3.51 ERA in 92 IP & a WHIP of 1.213

Yeah.............................................................................................lets go with Capuano. :smiley-crazy:

Yanks using Capuano primarily to give Tanaka and Pineda an extra day rest and hold down their seasonal IP ---
Chances are the Yanks are going to need to dip into there bullpen early with Capuano pitching and that's why Warren stays in the pen tonight with Betances having pitched in two straight days- we might even see this kid relief pitcher Goody make an appearance out of the pen. Goody, who has seem to come out of nowhere has had very good numbers at,
Trenton 41.2 IP AA,- 1.73 ERA, 1.03 WHIP, 12.8 K/ 9 IP
Scranton 6.2 IP AAA - 1.35 ERA, 0.90 WHIP, 14.8 K/9/ IP.
Worth a looksee.

Plus, there could still possibly be something in the works for the Yanks acquiring another TOP reliever which would free up Warren to return the SP rotation for the rest of the way.

...or maybe Yanks acquiring another SP?

There certainly is room for improvement.

:smiley-pat:Yes, I'm well aware WHY they're doing it, I just think Warren would have been the more logical choice.

Warren would be the better choice if one wants a win. Joe chose Crapuano so we'll hope it works, just go out there and kick some ass!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Talk about gambling with your team....but this is OK and Rose was a criminal, lol!

I guess they figure one way or another they're going to be piecing together the game pitching wise.

Capuano over/under on 4 innings?

I say under, then he'll bring in Warren.

...who ever said or implied that Rose was a criminal?...no one. And why are you dragging his lying ass into this thread?

...he's not getting into the HOF...get over it already.

And what happens if Warren only lasts 4-5 innings? Not impossible.
You ALSO know Betances has already pitched two straight days and is probably out of play for tonight and the MGR is thinking about the 7-8th innings....and Warren hasn't pitched in two days and is ready for TWO relief innings.....but you want to START him tonight on TWO days rest WITHOUT Betances available for duty tonight....hmmm.....pretty sound thinking...and I guess Girardi feels the need to use Betances THREE straight days after a win last night and a 6-7 game lead?
Not bad.....p.s....you're fired!

I'm not a member of the Girardi fan club but sometimes there are BASIC moves and manuevers which are reasonable to most who aren't thinking like impulsive "fans":hello:

Like I said I think it's logical to think that Capuano and Warren would split this game. It doesn't really matter to me which way they slice it. In a perfect world Capuano gives a good outing and saves the pen all together.

I hope your're right but imo, in a more realistic world Capuano goes maybe 5+/6+ innings allows at least 4 runs and hopefully the Yanks will put a few points on the board with the pen holding the line in the later innings and I think Girardi may have plans to, and should want to get this kid Goody's feet wet for a batter or two.

He's here for a reason and his AA-AAA numbers should be the least of the worrisome thoughts of using him. It'll be his poise and control. This isn't quite a BIG September game. The kid is part of the team/org and he is HERE....now.

Joe probably feels comfortable where he is in standings, wants to see if comp can be relied on if the yanks need him.... Simply experimental

An assumption, have not seen a lot of Yankee ball, what I get is the guy blows, maybe joe is giving him a shot to redeem himself, if the yanks suffer an injury, can he rely on him? I don't know what the F I'm talking about, too much sun, beach, beer, food.

??? "EXPERIMENTAL" and with that piece of shit!!!

Deadwood Yankee rears its ugly head. Hey, Joe.
You need help. LOL

Watching Nova last night made me realize that I had
a better day at the dentist! Tonight I may need a
sleeping pill.

Betances? what the hell does...............................never mind, I'll never learn. Might be time to join the others.

...ahh, OK... you're talking about Capuano.

...I think at this stage he just a mop up guy...but what I don't get is if Warren is the better pitcher (and he is) why wasn't Warren saved to start this game instead of Cappy?
...who knows about this crazy game...now watch Capuano throw a gem.

Well the "experiment" IS in order to give the SP rotation an extra day off.
The discussion , sort of, is whether to five the start to Capuano or Warren and I'll favor Girardi's choice in THIS particular situation because of what I laid out in my post #10.

Will I be shocked if Capuano gets clobbered? Nope.
But I stand by THIS decision. As I explained in post # 10.

"Betances? what the hell does...............................never mind, I'll never learn. Might be time to join the others".

___________

Before you run and hide like the others....as if I give a sh!t.....I can post happily just for the sake of ANYONE else out there who happens to stumble into the door and reads the various thoughts, "insights" and opinions of this board and have my little pieces included.

Now back to your quandary/ head scratching over my mention of Betances (post 10).
I'll try and better explain to you (because I care) why I brought up Betances and agreed with Capuano over Warren for this particular start.

1) Betances has pitched the past two days and I believe Girardi has made the choice NOT to pitch him 3 straight days which means he won't be available for his usual 8th inning duty.
I guess (hope) you already knew Girardi has NEVER pitched Betances THREE straight days all season long. Shall we move along?

2) Warren last last pitched July 25 (2.1 IP), out of the pen and I think we can agree he is best BULLPEN option other than Betances for the 8th and possibly also the 7th inn for tonight in place of Betances as Betances gets the night off - as we have established.

3) Capuano is the more rested having last pitched July 24 (1 IP).

4) If Warren gets the start as you prefer, then the Yanks lose Warren for bullpen duty for 3- 4 days depending on how many inn he pitches tonight AND, unless he pitches at least 6 inn the Yanks are then going to need Capuano and company and Miller getting the final 9 outs (at least).

What would you rather have, Warren, company, and Miller getting the last 9-10 outs possibly protecting a lead- or Capuano and company/Miller doing it?

Capuano is probably being asked to take one for the team in order to give the rotation an extra day of rest.
Sometimes when you're in the current situation the Yanks are in, you can risk losing a skirmish to help win the long war.

I hope this kinda clears up my line of thinking on this issue.
Just my opinion....
Care to comment .....including the BETANCES "thing" which you had such a problem with?

I'm also anxious to take a look at Nick Goody.
Never know when another gem arrives. Who knows?
The kid had good numbers at AA-AAA.

GO YANKS!

Note to all about tonight's game, it can be seen on FS1 (Fox sports 1) no telecast on the Yes channel.

Good practice .....maybe someday a few new recruits will arrive on the board and we'll have a couple/few others who don't miraculously agree with the usual same steady regular eight posters on 80-90% on most Yankee issues, decisions.

Wonder of wonders......the .500 guys will soon go by the wayside...followed by 82-84 win geniuses.......I'm almost getting embarrassed.
All documented....oh....has the part of Cashman's "plan" trading Shane Greene popped up lately? You know, the guy with the astronomical ERA and WHIP?
It is getting to the point where we can get a somewhat better read on it..still a long way to go. Step right up fellas, you seem to never have a problem ripping into and criticizing Cashman at the drop of a hat......

Quite alright....we're all wrong sometimes.......but when do some of you ever get one right?

How about the inexpensive acquisition of Shreve? Not too bad...he's only been one of the keys to their good deep bullpen......ah shucks.....if we only had Prado and Phelps we would be 10 games in first place......

This is gonna be fun- GO YANKS!

:smiley-family:
