DiDi must be batting .280(?) or so over his last 45 games.
And earlier in the season we would've been "satisfied" (rightfully so) if he hit .235-.240 but I just keep in mind, this is his still hisndirst full season being an everyday starting SS......kinda exciting.

91 games doesn't make a season but the closest thing he had to a full season was 2013 when he had 357 AB, 103 G and put these numbers up:
BA.252.
OBP .332
SLG%.373
OPS.704
Not bad.

He can go up or down with more playing time and experience but to me he looks like he just might get better. And I still expect him to hit with a bit more power.
He's got size 6' 2", 200 lbs and doesn't get cheated in his swings.

I really want to say, as premature as it may sound, I think the Yanks may have acquired a SS who could turn into one of the better young SS in the league in a year or two or possibly by the end of this season.
Lol, I really feel uncomfortable making such bold expectations for a player who never had more than 357 ABs in a season but its a general feeling and instinct I get watching this kid play....and he has also significantly reduced his errors from the first couple of months.

With his fourth hit of the night I know he's over .300 for the month of July. Hopefully can keep it going.

I don't think the Warren argument is terrible. If he had started tonight you lose him out of the pen for at least five days. You don't have to agree with it but that's the thought process.

Agree....Capuano was the designated sacrificial lamb so to speak......and actually, I hope Joe doesn't use Warren for more than one inn tonight with the current score. Finish up with anyone else not named Miller for the final two innings....but I guess nothing wrong with getting Warren some low pressure work (2 innings) in a blowout.

And IF the Yankees don't have this offensive explosion & lose this game it would have been because Joe put an un proven starter on the mound when he could have gone with a proven starter like Warren.

As far as losing Warren for 5 days the bullpen is deep enough where it would have survived. JMO.

Just got in.....last I saw the score at the gym was 5-0....figured the Crapuano and Girardi lovefest was raging, lol! This is the kind of 9th inning ARod hits a solo shot in.

Falling behind 5-0 is very bad....but the good thing about it is the Yanks still had 8 more innings to go in a ball park where they've done well in recent years and they weren't exactly facing a Cy Young candidate and didn't quite need 21 runs to pull this one out and I was a bit surprised Girardi felt the need to use Warren for THREE innings when he entered the game in the 7th inning with the team leading by 14 runs.....I feel he put Warren unnecessarily in harm's way pitching him three innings with a 14 run lead than a 16 run lead in the 9th inn.

Always the possibility of him slipping or landing awkwardly on his follow through and pulling a muscle in the torso or leg.....not to mention the rare but real possibility of getting smashed by a hot shot in the knee or ankle area.

Not sure what you mean - just curious, is this insinuating Arod only hits HRs this year when it doesn't matter? Or he doesn't or hasn't hit any crucial HRs this season?

Just wondering.
I'm not talking about whether or not "we" like the man, just the facts/stats.

Final thought on the Capuano vs Warren "choice" to start tonight's game 2 at Texas.
Looks like the final laugh was on some of us.
Prior to tonight's game, the Yanks made a move sending down reliever Nick Goody and recalling Diego Moreno who has made a couple of starts at Scranton.
He was the first one brought in after Capuano and pitched well.
Looks like Girardi did have another alternative to follow Capuano with no intention of using Warren until the later innings as they were committed to using this game to give extra rest to the SP rotation.
I guess we don't always get to look at the blueprints and listen in on the "planning" meetings. lol.

Have to admit, I was surprised to see Girardi use Warren for the final THREE innings while the Yanks had leads of 14 and 16 runs.....jeez.

This was a big win tonight - are now 4-1 on the longest remaining road trip on the schedule and obviously needing one of the remaining five games to assure a .500 trip and two more for a winning 10 game trip which would be just fine.

Just stay healthy boys, just stay healthy.

GO YANKS!

No he's not (no surprise) Yes Warren is NOW a reliever but he was also a proven starter. Crapuano on the other hand is also a reliever who has NOT been effective as a starter. Its simple math. Did you really ever play this game?

' Did you ever really play this game, is this a PERSONAL question?

Yes, warren proved he could be a starter, but was it in the plan from the beginning he would be , or was he filling in for injury?

I hope they saved some runs for the rest of the road trip.
