Game Thread Yankees vs. Mets 4/25/15 4:05PM

Welcome to our community

Be a part of something great, join today!

In his last 44 starts.

282.2IP
313 Hits Allowed
156 Earned Runs
4.97ERA

Wonderful as long as you enjoy seeing a guy get battered all over the ballpark.

Knew the start before yesterday was a tease. Maybe its time to think of him as a lefty specialist out of the pen. Wouldn't be the first guy to make that transition.

Again do the math, what would CCs ERA be if his season ended with only 7 innings allowing 4 runs? Then tell me that would be an acceptable line. Unless you're related to the guy stop defending how badly he's been pitching.

Since YOU mentioned the word "SEASON", here's a little math for ya-
Would YOU sign up to have a #3 SP who pitches 7 innings and allows 4 runs in every start?

And have you scored that point for Cashman yet regarding McCarthy?
See post # 51, you know, the one you conveniently ignored? Lmao

That was then, before and after knee surgery and lost mph on his fastball, and this is NOW - post 53:
" two games out of four, where he pitches 7 innings and allows 4 ER, and another game with 8 IP and 2 ER",

I'll give him the first two months of this year before I consider burying him.
That's all.

Damn this is just getting really sad at this point :banghead: Have you considered getting a dog?

In answer to your question, #1 HELL NO! because as I explained (many times) that would give him an ERA over 5 & sorry but that wouldn't be acceptable.

And #2 I ignored your post #51 because as with most of your posts it was ridiculous. Yes several of us did want the Yankees to make an attempt to resign McCarthy but NOT for 4 years at $12M per, you see we all knew that would have been stupid. Most of us were looking at 2 years tops! & for a helleva lot less then $12 per.

Now, say you're DONE again & mean it.

:smiley-pat:

The only time I will score 1 for Cashman is when he leaves as
Yankee GM.

I'm going to take a chance here but sadly I think I won't get an intellectually honest answer for whatever reason. First a comment, then a question.
Maybe you can forget WHO is making the comment and question so you're judgement and opinion isn't tainted or prejudiced and just address the actual WORDS.
Here goes:

I've said in the off season and ST that I believe CC has good enough "stuff" with a 90-91MPH fasball, good curve and changeup to make the transition from an ace type pitcher to an effective (good) #3 or 4 SP but he'll need to have more consistently good control/location...I also said I'm (imo) going to give him enough slack through the first two months before I kinda right him off as being washed up.
Many others have said and believe he is already "washed up" and they could be right - that's fine, more power to them!

As for his last full season (2013) being bad, he WAS already showing signs of losing his fastball and was still pitching as if he can overpower hitters with his fastball.

Now my question:
Generally speaking, if a SP has two games out of four, where he pitches 7 innings and allows 4 ER and another game with 8 IP and 2 ER, is that good enough, or should that be considered good enough to have at least one "win"?

Just a little perspective to consider:
I know CC isn't going to average 7 IP with 4 ER in every start.....but if he OR ANY OTHER #3-4 PITCHER can do that on a fairly consistent basis, would he have a respectable W-L record?..
.....AND he would also help the team by preserving wear and tear on the bullpen...

I'll let others worry about what his or ANY OTHER pitcher's ERA would be under those conditions. lol

And I welcome the whole board to read this WHOLE post and provide their opinions.
Sort of clear the air on this CC "discussion".

...sorry, but I have decided that it is fruitless to vainly try to communicate with someone who has the mental capacity of a child.

The inevitable I owned everybody with stupidity post. Fine an era over 5 would be great.

Hey Rick, you wanted Cashman to sign him for "only two years"...... guess what?
THIS IS HIS FIRST YEAR OF HIS CONTRACT and he has a 5.87 ERA and an elbow/arm injury......?

Now what were you saying? I CAN'T HEAR YOU....lmao...

How about this- let's take tonight's game, stay in first place (tie) and go 5-2 against the two teams who had the best records at the time in consecutive series?
Sounds good?

Go Yanks!

Question for any other takers on the board....let's try and clean up this crap once and for all....I'm getting bored with these petty semantics.

I asked a question - if you/whoever had the chance to sign up and agree before the season started to have a #3 starter pitch 7 innings and allow 4 runs in every start, would you accept it?

I won't even mention if his team happens to be one of the best run scoring teams in the league.....oops, I just mentioned it.
This is just too much fun.

Its difficult being you, isn't it?

I don't know, I asked a simple question....care to answer it?....or do you always try and insult people instead of giving an answer to a simple question?
Too deep for ya?
Gladly welcome your answer. (rolling my eyes)

Never mind, not interested.....I said my piece.

Were you dropped as a child? In my best John McEnroe rant "YOU CAN'T BE SERIOUS! This really stupid question was answered already (post #65).

Do you really need attention this bad? PLEASE stop posting, I'm actually beginning to feel sorry for you.

No!!!!!!!!!! What is so hard to understand? That's an era over 5 so who the hell would knowingly sign up for that?

Vic I have brought these numbers to his attention AT LEAST 4-5 times. At this point I don't know if its a real mental block or as we both wondered, he just may be that starved for attention.

I'm a bit surprised that "question" was received in a rousing negative.
I know what the ERA translates into if you give up 4 runs per 7 innings but I thought/think having a theoretical #3 (not an "ace") who could "guarantee" 7 innings never allowing more than 4 runs would get the team and//or him it's fair share of wins and also importantly doing a solid job of saving the bullpen over the course of the full season. Not such a bad thing to count on over 162 games ....imo

And to be fair, of course I do understand having this theoretical #3 starter also eliminates any chances of having him pitch a game where he gives up 3 or zero runs....but, on the other hand he'll probably also have a few stinkers mixed in where he gets knocked around for 5 or 6 runs and is out of the game before 5th or 6th inning....then you have a deeper hole and need more innings from your bullpen.

Okay, we've had some fun kicking this thing around.
Let's put it away and kiss and make up, and put it to rest. Lol

GO YANKS!

...white flag.

Oh no, I just felt like putting it to rest....there'll be plenty of days where the Yanks would gladly welcome 7 innings and 4 runs from any starter.....like TONIGHT from Eovaldi.

If CC can guarantee seven innings and allow four runs in every start, the Yanks would probably win the division.

"White Flag" my ass.

It doesn't get any less stupid the more times you repeat it.

I give you credit....when you have been proven wrong on the same night, you just revert to writing silly nasty things on the wall.

I wanted to put it to rest until you chose to assume I admitted to being wrong.....so I'll ask the question -
Would YOU sign up for 7 innings and 4 runs from Eovaldi tonight?

Don't even bother....the answer is obvious to sane rational Yankee fans.

Isn't this fun?

I'm sorry, but because of a prior commitment, I am bound to refrain from conversing with someone with the mental capacity of a child.

It was fun.
