I was thinking back to the bad (I mean really bad) old days of Victor Khrypta, Sabastian Telfair, Dan Dickau and company and while we were bad, I always had a hope that perhaps we'd change things around and get better (we'll be better next year).

After enough years of essentially the same core and nothing really changing, I find I no longer expect improvement or change and that I'm not really looking forward to the future either so long as nothing changes. The core of the team, the two that drive everything are the overlapping skillset, defensively challenged backcourt.

I've pretty much given up any hope of things getting better until either one of them retires or gets traded.

Sigh.

Trading for a PF, and not having 3 guys 6'3" or under are key to salvaging the season.

Not sure if that is Ben Simmons, but Dame, Powell, Little, Simmons and Nurk is a significantly better starting 5.

ill start by saying that i cant see this team being top 6 seed, which means theyll be in the play-in and i do believe they will make the playoffs

that being said, i have seen nothing so far that makes me believe in this team when it comes to playoffs, so 1st round exit is most likely scenario

maybe they improve their defense (weve seen flashes of it), its a long season, but this offense wont work, it simply wont and offense doesnt look like anything chauncey billups has been speaking about

100% agree with you. That is where I am at. I don't understand the optimism some have about this team. Some people thought we could be #1 in the west in the summer when we will be fighting for the 7-8 seed. Best case scenario is 5th seed.

Make an all in trade or blow up the team. Tired of this treadmill bullshit. I can't remember a time where I have felt this down about where we are at.

Well the good news is that shakeups are happening and I think we'll end up with a new GM soon. I think whoever it is will have the sense to trade at least CJ by the trade deadline. There is reason for hope.

I must be really pessimistic; I don’t even have a ton of confidence that we’ll get a new GM, or, if we do, anything will happen.

is there other team in the nba who plays with three guards in their starting line-up

you "cant" put powell on the bench, hes to expensive and is also starter quality player, so you have to play him as small forward

1 game under 500 after 13 games. Who would have thought Dame would have struggled from the start.
I think he’s coming out of it and this team still can make noise as the season goes along.
I would expect a major trade to happen b deadline for addressing area if weakness. Its good to Naz & Ant evolve. With big time changes in the midst I’ll be patient and enjoy the improvement as the season goes on. I want for the team to stay healthy during the season and hopefully finish strong.
I dont favor blowing it up but I would make a block buster if it made the team better.

Blow it up or at the very last a massive blockbuster trade. Our roster is flawed too small with not enough length with our starters and of course cj and same don’t work.

if we're around .500 about 24 games in, think we're golden as long as we stay healthy.

im more concerned with habits and growth right now than results. the offense needs some work. way too much iso and we're under-utilizing guys like norm/nance/nas.

defense looks night and day better which gives me encouragement.

Blazers should 'improve', barring significant injuries

much better chance they'll be in the play-in than have HCA. Better than even chance of another 1st round exit...I'd say 74.7% chance a 1st round exit is the ceiling

as long as the current GM is in place, there's not much reason for optimism

What’s the goal for the season? To struggle to get to being a .500 win team then lose in the first round? No thanks I want to go to the next level

I might be wrong but I think he's saying the first 24 games are tough. A hard SOS. After that, the remaining 58 games will be 'easier'. If they start 12-12, then they'd have to go 38-20 the rest of the way to hit 50 wins. That seems a pretty tall order but it isn't unrasonable

I agree though that the likely destination is a 1st round exit

But now we ARE better than the Telfair days. THIS is what you were dreaming of back then and now that it’s here, you can’t enjoy it for some reason. Do not take Dame for granted. I say this to everyone. Even though he’s struggling. Enjoy watching him play. We are so fortunate to have him as a Blazer and that won’t last forever. Even if he retires a Blazer, that day will come and we may never have a player this good again. Ever. I mean, top 75 all time, come on! No, as currently constructed, we aren’t a title favorite but just about every team in the league is having struggles right now except for GS and maybe Washington. I’m hopeful for a trade to fix things. Building around 4 guards as our best scorers will not work long term so I agree a change has to be made.

OKC did in bubble year (Schroeder, SGA, CP3). They got 5th seed but lost in first round in 7.

None of the poll options really fit how I feel.

Keeping the same core and expecting different results (minus the blow-it-up part) is probably what I'd select.

Pretty sure every blazer fan appreciates Dame. So much so some of us don't want to hold him hostage on a team that has no chance of winning a title. We can root from afar if he gets traded somewhere with a better chance while we rebuild.

Or, we do a go for it trade and finally get him some help. Help he hasn't had since Aldridge left.

I agree we need a trade. Give Morey the picks.

I have more confidence in the team than I do in the franchise, and I have zero confidence in this team

My confidence in the team started spiraling down the toilet in 2016 when Neil signed Turner and matched Crabbe for exorbitant sums. While they have some talent, it is so poorly matched it makes Trader Bob seem like a chemistry genius. Yes I want to see major moves as Lillard is starting to wind down and they're nowhere close to contending, but I absolutely don't want Neil to be the one to make them. He's shown to be a horrible judge of talent/chemistry & more then willing to overspend/waste assets.

STOMP

work in progress....we're now better defensively but much worse offensively...30 games in....we'll see where we stand in the league...as of now it's training camp even though games count...we're not a contender at this point by a long stretch but it looks like the Warriors are steamrolling anyway...beating the Lakers will be something to cheer for all season though

Golden State is REALLY not helping my mood about the team. Not only are they blowing away the league, they'll be getting Klay back and they hardly play their THREE LOTTERY PICKS that are just waiting for them when they decide to rebuild. They could basically trade for Simmons right now without affecting their rotation AT ALL, but they'd be dumb to, because it would just upset their chemistry.

I also feel that Dame might have a couple of 50 point games left in him but what we are seeing now is much closer to what he'll be like going forward than the Dame of Ye Old Times. His trade value is going to slide rapidly as his his contract rockets upwards.

This is also not helping my mood:

However, the Lakers are there to make be feel better.

Ugh. On the one hand, I believe we need to make some fairly big changes if we want to actually contend. OTOH, I have no faith in the FO to make those changes.

Schroeder only started 2 games all year. In the playoffs it was Dort and the other 2. He's built like a LB and SGA is 6'6

I guess I’m the only optimist so far. It pretty much all hinges on Dame though.
