You want just get away and escape? Try Oceanside. Nothing to do there but just chill and take in the scenery. My kinda place.......

The used to be a store there. It may still be there. There is also a pub. Oceanside is also very close to Netarts, which has the Schooner Inn. It’s a nice pub and restaurant with a great outdoor area, right close to the beach. Oceanside and Netarts make a nice little pocket off the beaten path.....Is there even a store there? It’s right by pacific city?
I've always loved the Seaside bakery.Cannon Beach Bakery
We have friends with a beach home in Manzanita and they love it.No love for Manzanita?
Why are Oregon beaches so cold when the Japanese Current flows off our coast? Answer - Because there is an upwell of water from deep in the ocean that brings cold water from the deep right up to the Oregon and Washington coasts. It's been a while since I spent time in an Oregon beach town, but I remember enjoying my time in Bandon and Reedsport as well as Neskowin and the usual north of the state beaches.
I do not miss how cold the beach there is.
Great watermelons although I had no idea that they grew in the ocean.Hermiston.

I haven't been there since about 1977....it's a beautiful place![]()
Brookings is the next Bend, Oregon — population boom and development boom.
My first trip was up 101 in 1964 in my dad's brand new impala...family trip from visiting relatives in Modesto and Yuba City up the coast on 101 ..fell in love with Oregon coast on that journey..actually the whole Pacific NW....my first time seeing the Pacific Ocean..I was 10 years old...it would have been interesting to be just about anywhere on the Oregon coast in 1936. I'll bet driving there was a lot more adventure than it is today
Brookings is too far from big cities to ever become Bend. It’ll never be a weekend destination for any big city

Flat tires every hundred miles or so. Rough roads everywhere.it would have been interesting to be just about anywhere on the Oregon coast in 1936. I'll bet driving there was a lot more adventure than it is today
More than that. Who's your daddy?I think Lanny might be 4 or 5 years older, but I remember going to the coast on camping trips in 1959-60. It sure was different back then. There were fewer people at the coast in summer than there are in the winter now
