I’m fond of Overlook area for some reason. I love the houses, it has a great charming feel. Tucked away, but at the same time right in the heart of Portland.
St Johns is another favorite. All my family comes out of the area and I spent my youth there. Blue collar area. It’s like a city inside a city on the peninsula. You have to have some thick skin to grow up there. Even though it’s been overran by tweaker and hipsters in the past 20 years it still holds a place in my heart.
Woodlawn is another one. I lived there for about 3 years. Cool vibe. Nice little brewery and close to the old college. But next to your quaint house might be a gang house and you could get hit by a stray bullet at any particular time. The firehouse restaurant is a cool little dinner spot.
Honorable mention: Alameda, Brooklyn, Kenton and Sellwood neighborhoods.
Least favorite: Mississippi, Alberta and especially Hawthorne. Way too trendy.
I remember when you stayed the fuck away from Mississippi. Lives their for a year and it’s way too trendy and shit now for me.
