My first fave was Terry Porter. I am a little disappointed by the rumors that I've heard about him as a coach, but he was always my fave player of the Clyde era.
Arvydas Sabonis may be the greatest player to have worn only a Blazers jersey his entire NBA career. (Dame's career isn't over yet and Roy had that unfortunate Timberwolves coda.) He may also be the best passer in Blazers history - certainly better than anyone we've had since.
I did love Sheed, although loving both him and Sabas was hard after the towel incident. He has aged like fine wine, though.
Since then, there have been few players whose trade would have had me threatening to stop being a fan. I did love Batum, but he was maddeningly inconsistent, and that one 5 x 5 was a huge tease. The fact that he's still in the NBA and second only to Kawhi Leonard in total +/- for the Clips shows that he's cut from the same cloth as Boris Diaw.
I guess I would say Dame has given me more moments of joy than any Blazer of at least the past couple of decades, but I really wish he could've learned to play defense at some point. That's what separates the Jimmy Butlers from the Devin Bookers.
Cult heroes: Uncle Cliffy, Robert Pack, Alvin Williams, Viktor Khryapa, Petteri Koponen, Andre Miller, Josh Hart. I bet I could've fallen in love with Joe Ingles if given the chance. Fuck Pau Gasol, though - I don't care if he's a nice guy.
