Couple of tidbits. Met Larry Steele at a Portland Beavers game in late 70's, got autograph. When the Blazers practiced at Green Meadows in Vancouver, met Billy Ray. I was a huge fan, and i tell my girlfriend, that's Billy Ray Bates. He looks at me and goes "she doesn't know who i am". He was a confident dude. Oh so fun to watch. Walked to work, saw Darnell Valentine. Went over to say hi. He was so cool and walked the rest of the way with me to the Plaid Pantry i worked at. Did security at a building where Kenny Carr had business. He was super nice. Jerome Kersey got his car tricked up at one of my customers i delivered too. He was super cool and cordial. That's who he was . Taken way too soon. Worked at Petco for a while. Sold a couple of dog houses to Kevin Duckworth. Big Duck had some big Rotties. Also left way too soon. Moved to Denver and saw Calvin Natt at the grocery store. He was an intense dude. Big Raider Fan. Maybe working with stiffs at his mortuary made him kinda coarse. Terry Porter is a teddy bear. Just a 1st class guy. Side note: Brooke is as sweet as she seems. What a wonderful person full of light. Took pictures with my daughter and me. I was so nervous. That happens sometimes when you have a crush on someone.

loved Drazen and Ainge
I wish Drazen would have had a better experience in Portland. He didn't like sitting behind Drexler. Being on the bench made him miserable according to Vlade Divac. As it turns out, he ended up being a sensational player. Taken way too soon. Man! I just don't like Ainge. As a Blazer he was ok.

Moved to Portland in 2002, so had a good stretch of shit play to watch. But my list is more recent than most because of that.

In no order,
Roy, Rudy, Dame, Przybilla, and RoLo.
I feel like I've probably liked others more for short stretches, but was frustratd enough by other stretches. Guys like Batum, Aldridge.

Looking back, Drexler traded for a beat up Yugo in ,Long in the tooth , Otis Thorpe was a low point, along with LaMarcus moving on when the franchise was really moving in the right direction. Man LA was so good as a Blazer.

Walton, Kersey, Drexler, Strickland, and Lillard.

Started watching '76.......63 years old.
I could live with this list although I might prefer Brian Grant over Drexler if personality were a factor...I'm also a big Sheed fan. Top ten would be emuch easier but I loved Rod Strickland and Sabonis playing together.
started following around 76....69 years old in a couple of months.

I wasn't born yet but three of my favorites are Wicks, Lucas, and Walton. Watched back games they were in. Just they way they played the game and what they brought.

I started watching in 1990.

My fave 5 from teams I actually watched live are:

Dame
Kersey
Grant
Sheed
Duckworth

You post a lot for not being born yet ... the stuff they do with tech these days is amazing ....

I was 12 when the Blazers won it all. RIP City and Blazer Mania were born. I played basketball at Capital Hill Elementary. My buddy was related somehow to Bobby Gross and we went to Lloyd Neals house a few times. I still have an autographed shoe from him and Bobby. Nike of Course.

I also played baseball at Alpenrose back then. My pops was from Ohio so i was Reds fan and i was also a Cowboys fan. Don't ask, not sure. Think it was Tony Dorsett. Life was fantastic being a kid in Portland Oregon. I was a half a mile from Marshall Park and i had three albums. Grease, Frampton Comes Alive and KISS Alive The Golden years.

So in a nutshell, i go way back.

I loved Lionel Hollins, Maurice Lucas, Dave Twardzik, Bobby Gross, Larry Steele, Bill Walton. Hell, i even liked Tom Owens.

My favorite players of all time are as follows:

Lionel Hollins
Brian Grant
Rasheed Wallace
Buck Williams
Terry Porter
Jerome Kersey
Brandon Roy
Dame Dolla
Arvydas Sabonis
Drazen Petrovic
Clifford Robinson

Drexler used to be my favorite player and i used to love Aldridge as well. They aren't on the list. May get back in some day

I don’t think you understood the assignment sir.

I understood it, can't limit a lifetime of love into five players.
It's cool you go by Ron Brewer. One of the Three Basketeers out of Arkansas, along with Marvin Delph, and the great Sidney Moncrief. I loved watching Ron. That sweet, smooth one handed jumper & floater. To me, one of the most underrated Blazers in team history. Never felt the fan base appreciated how good he was.

My first fave was Terry Porter. I am a little disappointed by the rumors that I've heard about him as a coach, but he was always my fave player of the Clyde era.
Arvydas Sabonis may be the greatest player to have worn only a Blazers jersey his entire NBA career. (Dame's career isn't over yet and Roy had that unfortunate Timberwolves coda.) He may also be the best passer in Blazers history - certainly better than anyone we've had since.
I did love Sheed, although loving both him and Sabas was hard after the towel incident. He has aged like fine wine, though.
Since then, there have been few players whose trade would have had me threatening to stop being a fan. I did love Batum, but he was maddeningly inconsistent, and that one 5 x 5 was a huge tease. The fact that he's still in the NBA and second only to Kawhi Leonard in total +/- for the Clips shows that he's cut from the same cloth as Boris Diaw.
I guess I would say Dame has given me more moments of joy than any Blazer of at least the past couple of decades, but I really wish he could've learned to play defense at some point. That's what separates the Jimmy Butlers from the Devin Bookers.

Cult heroes: Uncle Cliffy, Robert Pack, Alvin Williams, Viktor Khryapa, Petteri Koponen, Andre Miller, Josh Hart. I bet I could've fallen in love with Joe Ingles if given the chance. Fuck Pau Gasol, though - I don't care if he's a nice guy.

Devin Booker don't play quality defense, C'mon man. Booker ain't close to Dame.
