Your worst scouting fail

I though Oden would be good. Thought Bayless would be good. Wanted to sign Nash and Bynum right before they sucked.

Loved Bayless, thought he was hands down the best PG in that draft
Hated Kyrie thought he wasn't going to be anything special in the NBA
LOVED Thomas Robinson. I thought he was going to be Blake Griffin but with less handles
MCW, figured if you surrounded him with shooters he was going to be the assist leader every year.

Thats all I can think of that i'v been really really wrong on off the top of my head.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Kendall Marshall yet. I'm not going to name names, but I remember A LOT of people clamoring for that guy before the 2012 draft.

Her name was Erin....er, James Harden. I never thought he'd be what he is.

I've had too many scouting fails to mention, but I pretty strongly remember that I thought JR Smith was going to be the next Kobe.

Yeah I wanted Barnes at 6 and Marshall at 11.

It originally was Drummond at 6, but then when Barnes fell I wanted him bad.

I was excited to get Bayless and thought, even his first couple years on the Blazers that he'd be very good and needed more playing time.

Meyers Leonard. I think he's got the talent and ability, but he's not shown it yet.

I was big on TRob, Elliot Williams and Victor Claver....really liked all 3 of those guys as prospects

This is mine, too. I was pretty unhappy with the pick, I thought he was low-upside due to lack of explosive athleticism and being a four-year college player, he didn't strike me as dominant enough.

Of course, I read an interview with him years later where it turned out that he was a great dunker coming out of high school, but avoided going for dunks in college because he wanted to refine his skills rather than coasting on athleticism.

I got to see Roy play at UO so I really appreciated his development and was actually really happy with that draft at the time. The funny thing about Roy is that he was a nobody in the HS who threw his hat in for the draft out of HS. Luckily for him he withdrew, but I remember thinking he was an idiot for declaring at that point.

Yep Bayless was supposed to be on par with Westbrook. Oh well. We kind of got Dame through Bayless.

I'm pretty sure I could be quoted on here saying Bayless would score 2o a game at some point his in career and this was after he had already spent a year on the team.

Bayless is a decent role player now at least. I would love him back here now as long as he is healthy. He would be a good third guard for us.

He worked hard to improve his 3pt shot and now is pretty good at it.

I didn't think either Roy or Lillard would turn out to be as good as they became.

After Lillard gave the fake show 23/11 and a loss while ending bandwagon Nash's career in the process, I was sold.

I was going to say Bargnani, but I wanted Aldridge 1 and Bargnani 2. So Aldridge.

I'm surprised how high so many people were on Bayless.

Most of mine were 2nd round guys (I have 2 or 3 a year that I become a little too attached too lol) so not necessarily sure you can call them fails.

Richard Howell, Norris Cole, Trevor Mbakwe Lorenzo Brown, David Lighty, Armon Johnson were all guys I thought would be nba role players at worst.

I've actually been pretty happy with my evaluations on 1st round guys. Most of the guys that I've really liked, even as late as late lotto to mid first, have stuck as starting quality players (McCollum, Adams, Markieff Morris, Gorgui Deing, Jimmy Butler to name a few)

The two that stick out as guys I was little to high on was Alec Burks (he has had a lot of injuries though), and Jared Sullinger (Thought he could be a Love type w/o the passing) .
