Zach Collins is ready

Waiting for the defense to react to his spin and then going to the other side of the rim.

BBIQ.

He’s a very smart player. Even on pick and rolls he knows when to pass off instead of getting a charge called against him. Coming out of college he was known to struggle with fouls and a lot of times the suggestion is a guy just doesn’t know what he’s doing because he’s raw (or dumb) but with Collins it’s more just a matter of him being super aggressive. If he can find that balance he’s going to be a monster.

And one thing i forgot, Zach has to work on his Screens. His Screens are terrible.

Man, you should rethink why you are on here. Don’t come on here and mess with these people. You aren’t a fan of this team posting the way you do. Let them enjoy a W. Get out of your mom’s basement every now and then a pick up some people skills.

So much more enjoyable watching Collins than Meyers. He's almost always in the right spot defensively and he can get a shot off before I walk the dog around the block.

He's not a 5 though, which isn't a negative comment

He's not. He's our 4!

Damn... it wasn't that bad of a post. lol. Besides, he does need to work on his screens a bit - and he will... dude is legit. Once I got out of my moms basement and looked at the mailbox, I realized this.

Yeah his screens aren’t great but at least he doesn’t make it look like he’s attempting brain surgery like some other guy on our roster.

All that guy does is put the team on blast. 19 year old kid got his first real run of the season and did pretty good if you ask me.

I don't think anyone is questioning it. Hes been great the last 2-3 games... little things to work on isn't bad.

I don’t want to make comparisons, especially this one, but man, even the way they run is identical. The body type is very comparable to a young Aldridge as well.

This!!!!

When Nurk comes back, I want to see a Nurk, Collins, Aminu front court.

Fuck small ball! Zach and Aminu are quick enough to guard smaller players. With Nurk clogging up the middle, that would easily be out best defensive unit.

They would also be great on the boards. Aminu is a great rebounder for his size, and would be one of the better rebounding small forwards in the league. Given the way Aminu is knocking down his 3-pointers this year, he would be, by far, our best option at small forward.

BNM

Nurk/Collins with Vonleh backing up either of them. HNNNNNGH.

I have hope it happens because tonight I saw Aminu get some run at the three.

Collins better not go back to the bench when Nurk returns. If it were up to me, Nurk, Collins, and Vonleh would get the majority of the minutes at PF/C while the rest waive towels or get spot minutes.

And on offense he understands the game, has good post moves and Range. I am worried a bit because of his free throw shooting looks weird but the rest looks pretty good
His free throws will be fine. He missed short twice. He has a smooth stroke and touch, so he'll be a 75%+ guy. FTs are the last thing you need to worry about with him.

He was around that % in college. What’s funny is that should be his floor, because I don’t see why he couldn’t shoot even better than that. I could see him consistently in the 80% range eventually.

If Collins hits his ceiling we’re not going to be saying “damn glad he worked out because Donovan Mitchell is great.” We’re going to be talking about why Philadelphia passed on him for Fultz. That’s how high his ceiling is.

I think you need some serious help man if you think that

What exactly is his ceiling though? I mean, a Marc Gasol rim protector, 37-38% 3pt shooter, 53% FGs? Maybe 16-18ppg, 10reb, 2.5blks? Not exactly sure what his ceiling is.

Because you say so?

So he's a combo of Wilt, Russell, healthy Walton, Shaq, Olajuwan and prime Sabonis.

Nice pick, Neil
In fairness, @Scalma is saying that's his ceiling, not his present status or even his likely projection. That is to say, he doesn't seem to have any inherent limitations that would keep him from developing into a complete big with no weaknesses. He doesn't appear to be mentally fragile, athletically inferior, or fundamentally flawed. He's shown a basic ability to be effective in the post, competent on the perimeter, and excellent defensively. He has the basics, just needs the time, experience, and strength necessary to make the jump.

Nobody says that he is on track to be an all-time great, but to this point he hasn't really shown us anything negative that will prevent him from becoming the best player in this draft (aside from the combination of his skin tone, projected position, and nation of origin, of course...)

So Markel Fultz is a complete guard because he hasn't shown any inherent limitations either?

Dude has played 103 total minutes in the NBA. Has shot 39% from 2, and 22% from 3, yet he has 0 inherent limitations. He looks ok so far. He looks like the players I mentioned above compared to Meyers. Let's hold off on no weeknesses or inherent limitations for a bit though

Not to throw too much shade as Zach is finally showing us something at least.

But MAN, Donovan Mitchell is balling his ass off right now. Over the last six games, he's putting up 27 ppg on great percentages (49/39/89) as a 21 yr old, and that too, he's pretty much their only big scoring threat. Reminds me of a rookie Wade. What a bummer, I thought he had high bust potential so I had no interest.

Again--nobody said Collins is a complete center or has no weaknesses; he said that's Collins' ceiling.
