PG: Gilbert Arenas, Earl Watson, Marcus Williams
SG: Ronnie Brewer, Arenas, Iguodala, Luke Jackson
SF: Andre Iguodala, Brewer, Luke Jackson
PF: David Lee, Nazr Mohammed, Melvin Ely, Big Baby

Earl Watson is your first guard off the bench, and before Iguodala?

Iggy's my starting SF. He'd only play SG for me in a few situations.

I figure Watson plays PG with Arenas at SG some of the time.

I thought he was a PF

Jason Thompson is a center:confused:

Small Ball Nellie style guys ;) I think he might be taking Earl Boykins to add EVEN more center depth next lol

PG: Starbury/Eric Gordon/Sergio Rodriguez
SG: Mike Miller/Martell Webster/Eric Gordon
SF: LeBron James/Shawne Williams/Martell Webster
PF: Jermaine O'Neal/Reggie Evans/Wilcox
C : Chris Wilcox/Jarron Collins

I think I can limit injuries by playing Starbury around 30 min. and JO around 28 min since I have some good people off the bench for those positions.

The Knicks are talking about putting out a small frontcourt of Chandler, Galinari, and Lee. I assume Lee's the "center" and I've got the other two, so whichever plays the 4 will be my backup there- actually, he'd be Turk's backup there, since Hedo plays some 4. And I didn't watch him in college, but Thompson's listed as a PF/C a few places, never mind the fact I got a lottery pick who impressed in summer league in the 11th round.

Ahh thank you for clarifying :D

Wait......Thompson impressed? Thompson certainly isn't lotto talent either, he was considered a reach, so don't go overboard with a project big since this is a one year thing ;)

For some of us, this isn't a one year thing. There will be some of us discussing our teams in three years

I think for something like you evaluate the overall. As in the chances of winning this year, development in a few years, consistency in years to come, ability to stick around in their conference, stuff like that should all be considered. However, I think if we were to split our gradings of these teams by percentages, the championship THIS year should have a higher percentage then the rest, but NOT the whole evaluation.

Remember we are building a team, and I think a team is built over multiple facets.

Thompson is NOT a project, and I do think he is lotto talent.

How much have you watched Thompson? He was a great college player but he's not ready to contribute consistently physically yet and still needs to learn alot. He hasn't faced many guys his size or as much talent as he will in the NBA. I know everyone has different opinions, but I want to know why you think he has lottery talent?

Yeah, everyone will look back @ their teams but the judging is suppose to be for this year from what I understand. It's easy to comeback & say how developed your 11th round rookie is now.

I'm much more concerned about the look back than I am about any current judging.

If this is a look back thing we should do like a draft each year around the time of the NBA draft to add to these teams, where we can cut one player for them, the order determined by how we vote. Kinda like a sim-league/fantasy league but lazier. Of course we'd have to replace some guys and others would probably want to redo the draft in order to do it that way, or start it next year or something.

This sounds like a terrible idea tbh.

I like how every time you respond it's "How much have you watched (insert player here)?"

How many Rider games did you catch? Do you get a lot of them on the west coast?

I got that from this:
"July 22, 2008
Scouts rave about his speed. I love his hands. He mixes it up well around the rim and looks like he'll be an effective player out on the floor. The best rookie power forward of the summer.

Thompson is an immediate upgrade to the Kings' frontline as an athlete. They had the least athletic frontline in the league last year. He's got a nice combination of skills with size and projects as someone who can play well next to Spencer Hawes.

Geoff Petrie likes his offensive sets to include pinch-post action. For that action to work effectively, the big has to be able to make that shot or get to the rim while being a good passer. Both Thompson and Hawes look like they'll be able to do those things.

Making a game-winning shot in an NBA Summer League game, while playing well in general, sends him into the rest of the offseason thinking positive thoughts. The alternative to that would have been scary because he's coming from a lesser-known school in Rider. You don't want him questioning if he can play on this level. That thought is no longer an issue.

If he had gone to a big-name college, he'd be a household name already. He has a nice combination of skill sets, body and hustle. "

and this:
"Las Vegas Summer League Day Five
July 16, 2008
Thompson really came through today, making a lot of plays down the stretch and ultimately winning the game by finishing an and-one. He showed very nice touch at the rim today, and didn’t force things nearly as much as he did in his last outing. While he turned the ball over a little too much, he did it within the flow of the game, and it was more because he was well defended than because he was pressing. His ability to get to the line was on full display today, and he’s got the body to be a very imposing physical presence on both ends. He cleaned the glass efficiently and does a good job using his bulk to gain position in the lane. Defensively, he showed great timing coming over from the weak side, but he doesn’t always see drives coming and will get a little too aggressive on the ball at times. "

However, the point of my bench isn't to predict which rookie or even 2nd-year player will be great- it was to play the odds and predict that at least a couple will be, and my starting line-up would be good enough to be able to be patient with the bench.

I saw probably about 7-10 of his games this last year with FSN package cuz they don't blackout college hoops like they do with other sports. I'm a college hoops nut, so I'm pretty sure I know what I'm talking about with these younger guys.

Summer league don't mean much either, he looks like crap & was non-existent in some of the games too during summer league. In the 11th round, it's an ok pick, not trying to say it was bad but it's nothing special either.

That's funny because FSN doesn't televise any MAAC games, and Rider only had 5 televised games all of last year. 4 on ESPN2 (2 from the Disney tourney, one random game, and the championship game) and 1 on the MSG Channel (a local channel). So now I KNOW you are talking out of your ass. Thanks!

Team 1:
PG: D.Harris/Lowry
SG: K.Azubuike/M.Carrol/H.Adams
SF: R.Gay/C.J.Miles
PF: A.Horford/J.Maxiell/I.Diogu
C: D.Milicic/R.Turiaf

PG: Jason Terry/Javaris Crittenton
SG: Kyle Korver/Aaron Afflalo/Devin Brown
SF: Rashard Lewis/Andres Nocioni/Jarvis Hayes
PF: Carlos Boozer/Sean Williams
C: Marcus Camby/Robin Lopez

Roster is done. Please critique.

Was wondering if I should start Afflalo or Brown over Korver and bring Korver off the bench. Any thoughts?

Your lack of a PG hurts you, especially with Boozer as your centerpiece. I'd start Crittenton and Terry and hope they can break down the defense and get Boozer some room down low. Crittenton should also help with defensive matchups because he can guard twos.

C: Joakim Noah/Steven Hunter/Oleksiy Pecherov
PF: Josh Smith / Chuck Hayes
SF: Andrei Kirilenko / Renaldo Balkman
SG: Monta Ellis / Nick Young
PG: Leandro Barbosa/Jacque Vaughn

Thoughts?

I don't think Korver can play SG but Rashard can play PF, I would go small. I know having Camby off the bench seems like a waste but this line-up would score in bunches, defense is going to be a problem anyway so might as well score the other team off the floor.

Crittenton, Terry, Krover, Lewis, Boozer.

If anyone has a better big three than
G. Wallace, Paul Pierce and Amare please stand up because I looked at all rosters and they are the best big 3 in the league.
My bench is also ridiculous, my team is so over looked

KG, Artest and SJax is better

Wallace is a fantasy stud that doesn't help his team win.

every team in the nba would trade artest for wallace in a heart beat. Wallace is not just a fantasy stud, hes a good defender and a tough player. Does Artest help his team win? He has a bad attitude and when was the last time he made the playoffs?

Pierce is also a lot better than SJax offensively and defensively. Pierce is a better leader and Sjax comes with a lot of baggage also.

KG and Amare I know you will say KG is better but I stand by Amare. He is much younger and is such a good scorer and very clutch. KG showed a lot of signs of wear and tear last year and Amare is just getting started.
