Say what you want about Tosh, but that guy can recruit. I wanted Shaq so I am sad to see him sign elsewhere. Oregon gets enough athletes that they should be able to flip someone to safety though.

I also agree with whoever said AA should be a DT.

Meh, UW gets Shaq, at least it's a consolation prize for you all. Will do stats on UW today...

Hey all,
First post for me. Kyle Long is sounding like a really solid OL, what are the chances he gets a second year to play?

I heard we lost some OL, so an experienced vet like Long, whose been playing every year in college, has a good chance to start this year

Sorry, was not clear. What I mean is that he has one year of eligibility left but plans to petition for a second. Wondering what the chances of him getting that second year are.

Ryan Clanton, Hamani Stevens & Jake Fisher weren't starters but did see a lot of action last year. Oregon likes to use their full roster and thats true along the offensive line too. If not as a starter, Kyle Long has a good shot of at least getting into the rotation. Competing with him for snaps will be 4 pretty highly touted guys from last year's class who Redshirted.

Landing 5 LBs and 5 OLineman last year is probably the biggest reason we've seen this year's class only land 1 LB (Bafaro) & 1 OLineman (Long). Next recruiting cycle those will be more critical positions to fill.

btw...here is a link to a favorite Duck site. Hovering your cursor over a player's name pops up a brief info on them, clicking the name accesses the player's full official bio. I also like how you can query the players with the star ratings they received and whatnot.

Ah, well I have no clue. He may decide to redshirt next season to understand the offense, then he can play I think.

thank you for linking that again Stomp!! I have been looking for that and could never remember where it was!

What I like reading about Kyle Long was what Howie said.... That Kyle had all the God given talent that Chris long had to work so hard for and look where Chris is now. If Kyle's head is on straight now the Ducks will have a STUD our there! My home town knows this kid had some troubles but Howie can get in your ear and something tells me Kyle will be damn good in Eugene!

So now we will be paying attention to Bralon Addison and Chance Allen correct?

Yes.

Man, living down here in Texas, and working with several Longhorn alums was rough when Cottrell bolted, but they are all about A&M losing Addison to us.

So we could get those 2? I mean I heard they played against each other but are friends and would rather play together and far away then apart but close to home.

Did you explain to them that the fact that Texas is trolling for 3 stars is a sign of how far they have fallen???

I actually said "It's a tough loss, I hope he can elevate your program so you can beat the likes of UCLA at home"

Can someone help me out? Joke kinda flew over my head.

Texas just flipped Cottrell, who was a verbal to UO. Cottrell is a 3* player, which for Texas, was beneath them just a few years ago (or so you'd think from their fans). Throw in the Mack Brown conspiracy theory about Will Lyles, and I'm will to mock Texas for anything.

On Scout someone said Dozier has committed to WSU, so that'd be another recruit lost by Cal. He hasn't announced yet, so it could just be someone making shit up.

Dozier's announcement is on ESPNU at 2:30. Unless somebody's already been tipped off, of course.

Someone said earlier that UW should be on suicide watch. Make that Cal instead...

So we lost Cotrell?

At this point the Ducks need upgrades to the secondary and OL... Now's the time to find a few diamonds in the ruff!

I agree, secondary is a bit underwhelmed, but next year I'm sure we'll hunt for Corners and some OL.

I'm actually pretty high on our secondary. Last year there was a lot of growing pains, which was to be expected with all the youth. Only so much a DB can do with no push from the line. I think with the stellar D-Line class coming in, it will make our secondary look that much better. IMO.

By and large, most of the Ducks highest rated recruits at almost every position have yet to hit the field, or if they have, they still have eligibility left.

It's tough to know where the real needs are, simply because the Ducks will be putting a lot of highly-regarded recruits on the field over the next two years. 4 OL were redshirted last year as freshmen, true freshman Jake Fisher got plenty of PT last year, and Hronnis Grasu started replaced Jordan Holmes, without a downgrade, as a redshirt freshman.

I agree with everything here and he didn't even mention receiver, we brought in some studs last year, BJ Kelly, Blackmon for example who didn't even touch the field.

Sumler, Kelley, and Blackmon all redshirted. That's amazing.
